1 | What does men in Eph. 4:8 mean? | Eph 4:8 | Hank | 36689
Tuli, at a conference I attended many years ago, the speaker said, "Behind every successful man is a surprised woman!" This is a humorous knock-off, of course, of the familiar adage, "Behind every successful man is a loving woman." How frequently I pick up a book, whether secular or religious, and read the dedicatory remarks. If the author is male, more than likely the book will be dedicated to his wife and will say something along the lines of "without whose love and devotion this book would never have been written." I've heard preacher after preacher confess that the real power behind the pulpit was the love and support accorded him by his wife. Men are ill-suited to having babies and nursing them. Men are fumblers when it comes to giving the home that certain charm and sparkle that only a woman's touch can give. Men are only good at being men and women are only good at being women. One complements the other. God has given man his role and woman hers. Man is different from woman; the two roles are different; but neither role is superior to the other. The greatest evangelist serves God in no greater way than his wife who loves and cares for him and their children. --Hank

Thanks Hank, There sure are roles yet that does not help me understand what role women have in the body of Christ in which every joing supplies and none is sufficient without the other. And that especially the gift of teaching and pastoring is given to all men and women inclusive yet we do not have women pastors and teachers. |
