1 | When is marriage given as a command? | Gal 5:19 | sassietoo | 120054
I have a good friend that for some reason doesn't believe that she has to be married, but can have a full relationship with someone. I know there are things that talk about marriage in the bible, but never really specifically said you must be married. I did find a scripture this morning in I Corinthians chapter 7, which tells what the disciple stated about marriage. But in the old testament, with the first books of law, there are really no proclamations on you should be married. Adam and Eve were given by God in marriage, but no ceremony or speach is noted. I know there are documents that preceded the books of law, but want to find something I can show her from the beginning of the bible to help her understand. Can you help me?
2 | When is marriage given as a command? | Gal 5:19 | EdB | 120055
Your friend apparently has not heard of fornication. That is any illict sexual act between two unmarried people. Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge. so it really doesn't matter what you friend thinks as much as what God's word says. And it clearly teaches fornicators will be judged. That is not a good place to be in. EdB |
