1 | Why Sunday? | 1 Cor 16:2 | Naami | 193563
I want to know some opinions on Sabbath. If God created the world, and rested on the 7th day and made it HOLY, why do MOST people go to church on Sunday? Isn't creation and a day that GOD hallowed, more important than a day that he rose from the dead?

One more thing.. GOD really no longer commands us what day to worship it is more an issue of preference.. He is more concerned that we worship HIM in our lifestyle.. Rom 14:5 One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind. |

In Matthew 5:18 Jesus clearly states "Remember that as long as heaven and earth last, not the samllest detail of the law will be done away with -not until the end of all things.S0 then, whoever disobeys even the least important of the commandments and teaches others to do the same, will be the least in the Kingdom of Heaven". Now how can this be missunderstood. This comes right from the words of Jesus. As for the curtain being torn ,how can that have any bearing on What Jesus ordererd us to do for all time unless he was mistaken, and you are showing us where he errored ? Now where is there any mention of the curtain getting rid of the instructions of Jesus besides in some wild stretch of the imagination. Romans 14:5 has no mention of the Sabbath, and just before that in Romans 10:29 Paul is calling God "the Lord of the Sabbath".Paul has this mixed in with someone who worrys about what food is holy, theres no mention of eating in the 10 commandments. So here we have insignificate little things we pick out to find an excuse for disrespecting Jesus and worshiping as we see fit .What would you say to him in answer to this if standing face to face? Would you expect to be thanked for teaching the exact opposite of what he instructed us to teach? As for collecting money on the first day of the week ,does this really indicate that Jesus was mistaken? As for 1 Corintians 16:2 .Paul indicated that "each of you" should set aside some money so ther would be "no collections when I come" .This seems quite clear ,the first day of the week its back to work after the Sabbath ,and time to gather up some money ,instead of running around on the Sabbath.Once again ,does this overrule the Words of Jesus? Now for your answer to "Why do most people go to church on Sunday" Well back in 312 AD Constantine faced a superior army ,he told his troops he saw a sign from God telling him to put the symbol of God on their sheilds and they would win, they did win.He had inspired them greatly, and was on a roll so to speak.Realizing the power of the church when used as a tool by the state,he called all the religious educaters to a meeting ,the concil of Nicea, and had them blend all their religions into one.The main other religion of the day was sun god worshipers ,who worshiped on sunday. They even had paintings and wood carvings still in existance ,of a woman holding a little child around december 25th ,the shortest day of the year being dec.21 by the 25th the days were getting longer and the child represented the new year it even had a halo around its head ,as did the mother .This represented the sun .Next came easter a wild sex orgy with the rabbit and egg representing fertillity. They outlawed passover. This goddes was called many names over the years Isis, eshter, and several others. This became the church of Rome. That brings us to where we are now, blindly stumbling along ,testing nothing, not daring to offend anyone with our questions.. I can't for the life of me see how anyone could explain away the very words of Jesus. They are clear, matter of fact ,absolute, and need no interpretation as do the reasons given for worshiping on the same day as the sungod followers of old. When you are praying next time ask that you be given the courage to test all things.
