2 | What is wrong w/Women speaking in church | 1 Cor 14:34 | goodlife | 75914 | ||
There is not a thing wrong with women speaking in the church, just as women have the undeniable right to even lead a congregation. There is nothing at all in the bible that would argue against a womans right to speak in the church. Any reference one makes to biblical edicts or commands against this is made by one who does not understand exactly what has happened. It is true that in a traditional sense women are not allowed to speak as well many other customs are then equally as relevant--the pastor who stated women are not to speak in churches would do well then to observe every last of the awkward and demanding customs, commands and laws presented to Isreal in the time of moses and etal, for in doing so is the only possible way he can claim to retain any viable pretext of correctness in his insane statement, for again is he calling for us to adhere to only one of a myriad of laws and customs without even adressing the fact that we should then also be observing passover and burning moldy clothes and not eating animals that have claws and on and on and on and on. I would go even further and state that his line of reasoning and any possible justifiable excuse for his subsequent comments would be found in that he still subscribes to the notion that by the observence and strict adherence (which has been proven impossible and futile to even try) to these archiac and fundamentally superfluous laws and traditions one can then grasp salvation and come to please God. This is dangerous water the pastor is seeking to tread, and like peter he will sink, unlike peter he will find christ is not there to pull him out, for by invoking these laws and traditions he is asking christ to kindly leave him to his own devices. I thank you for your time. |

Dear goodlife, I think you would get a better response if you could avoid making rather subjective, dogmatic, and unfounded statements. Your statement,"There is nothing at all in the bible that would argue against a womans right to speak in the church.",is a case in point. What of 1 Timothy 2:12-14 "But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet?" I do understand what has happened, my friend! I would argue that the burden of proof is on you! It might be advisable to distiguish between mere opinion and Biblically based fact! Your views are certainly welcome- however they should also include scriptural support to be taken seriously:-) Speaking The Truth In Love, BradK |
