2 | Conformed to scripture or Christ? | Rom 8:29 | Morant61 | 149749 | ||
Greetings Bows44! I would argue that it is the same thing in that: 1) Christ is God! 2) Scripture is God's breathed word! 3) Therefore, if one conforms to Scripture, one is also conforming to Christ! 2 Tim. 3:16 is quite clear about the purpose of Scripture in the life of a believer: "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." Verse 16 provides a great chiastic structure (positive, negative, negative, positive) of the uses of Scripture: a) to teach (correct doctrine) b) to rebuke (false doctrine) b) to correct (false living) a) to train (correct living). The result of these four actions will be a person who is thoroughly equipped. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
