Hi Tim: Here is the answer for your clarification. (NO) I do not believe we need to be baptized to be saved, my personal belief is, Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; The verse I believe you are referring to is 1 Pet 3:21. I have looked it up in the Amplified Bible. this translation gives a clearer wording of the verse. Hope this will clear things up for you. 21And baptism, which is a figure [of their deliverance], does now also save you [from inward questionings and fears], not by the removing of outward body filth [bathing], but by [providing you with] the answer of a good and clear conscience (inward cleanness and peace) before God [because you are demonstrating what you believe to be yours] through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
