Greetings Searcher! The same word is used for 'gifts' as is used in 1 Cor. 12-14. It is a word that is only used 17 times in the NT. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

God's day to you Tim, my friend, I do know that ... but I want Mark to see the context of Romans 11:29. I wonder if gifts in Romans 11:29, are spiritual gifts ... I ask because it is "God's gifts and His call" and not the other way around ... I believe we get His call (and answer yes) before we get our spiritual gifts. Steve |

Greetings Steve! I believe that they may be included in Rom. 11:29 for two reasons. First of all, 'charismata' is an unusual word that refers to spiritual gifts more often than not. It is used of salvation earlier in Romans however. Secondly, it is clearly used of spiritual gifts just a few verses later in chapter 12. It would be a bit odd to see the same word used within a few verses in two totally different senses. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
