1 | Does God cause death like this? | Acts 17:11 | the_Kings_child | 155897
My question has to do with what certain people say at my church. I am not judging them or saying they are wrong but when they say these things it bothers me. I'll give two examples of what two people say all the time. One person said that when he was out of church that God took his mother because of it. He was a grown man at the time his mother died. Another example is by another man who says that God took his baby because he wasn't in church. It is scary to me because I know I'm a sinner saved by Grace but I am starting to feel worried and confused because I think I had better live perfectly or something bad might happen but I just can't bring myself to blame God for it. I really need some help from you my brothers or sisters to tell me if there is any truth in this?

God's day to you, the_Kings_child ... Will God ALWAYS punish us if we do something wrong ... or after we have sinned for a long time? I say no. Ask people to prove what they say by Scripture. One example in Scripture is Ahab and his wife (1 Ki 16:29ff). While they were punished after many years - God din't punish them, as we would have. Look at Omri (16:22) and other kings and examples in the Bible. On the other hand. Job didn't do wrong and he lost everything, except for his wife and 3 friends (Job 1-2). If we had to be checking how bad we were and be afraid what God will do, we would freak out. I don't sin so grace abounds (Rom 6:1-2) ... yet I don't look at what I did when "bad" things happened. This week I got two rejection notices (I have no work), been in an accident and the other car stppoed running. All I know is that I see God's faithfulness in my wife - He protects and provides.
