2 | is it ok to lie in certain cases | John 8:44 | Dawna | 207989 | ||
In both of the versus you use, check out the motive for the lying. Abraham was afraid and bowed to fear over God's protection. David's men were hungry and bowed to physical need over God's provision. Both men did not wait for God's answer and their lies caused problems for those around them. (i.e. to the man who thought Sarah was his sister and wanted to take her for himself.) I would also like to add to some of the answers you already received which answered that we do not lie even regarding do we lie even unto death. This can be a scary question but the Lord said in Matthew 10:33 "But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven." When faced with opposition which includes exposure as a believer, we need to keep this verse in mind. Our life here is but a blip on the screen of eternity. |
