Greetings Thomas! I understand what you are saying, but there is nothing in the text that indicates that those who believed are the ones who wanted to kill Him. In Greek, a verb itself has tense, voice, mood, person, and number included as part of it's form. In this case, the verb 'answered' is an Aorist, passive, indicative, 3rd person, plural verb. The context is general enough that the 'they' could just as easily, and even more likely would, refer to those who had not believed. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
