Friend, if you are asking whether Jesus' words are as true of our time as they were of His time on earth, I'm afraid that they are. Skepticism is old hat. It was around when Eve was walking in the garden of Eden and she fell prey to it. She obviously didn't believe that God was serious about His command to leave that fruit alone; she took the serpent's word instead of God's. And of course Jesus encountered His share of skeptics and scoffers who demanded signs and wonders -- and some didn't believe even then. In fact a group of Pharisees even accused Him of acting under power of Beelzebub, prince of demons. And in our time are those who are looking to be convinced by a sign or wonder of some sort before they will even consider believing in Christ. They think they should "feel" something -- ecstatic speech, a sense of rapture, anointing, healing -- something -- their very own special sign from God. Now and again some skeptic will show up on this forum looking for a "sign," for "proof" of the validity of the gospel of Christ. Sadly enough, many of them go away as skeptical as they came, in spite of efforts by Christians on the forum to convince them of the truth of God's word. --Hank | ||||||

Hi Hank! Don't you think that we would learn by now that WE can never convince anyone of the Truth? I find the challenge overwhelming at times . . .let's just keep sowing and watering! mommapbs |
