1 | How do we worship God only? | John 4:24 | Michael Draves | 150821
Since we are to worship God only and not man but Jesus Christ is both God and a man how do we worship properly? Is bowing and confessing Jesus Christ as Lord the same as worship? Matt 4:10 Then Jesus *said to him, "Go, Satan! For it is written, 'YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.'" Dan 7:13 "I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days And was presented before Him. Dan 7:14 "And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations and men of every language Might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed. Dan 7:15 "As for me, Daniel, my spirit was distressed within me, and the visions in my mind kept alarming me. Phil 2:9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, Phil 2:10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, Phil 2:11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Matt 2:2 "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him." Matt 28:9 And behold, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him. Matt 28:17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. John 9:38 And he said, "Lord, I believe." And he worshiped Him Heb 1:6 And when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says, "AND LET ALL THE ANGELS OF GOD WORSHIP HIM." |

2 | How do we worship God only? | John 4:24 | Ray | 150843
Hi Michael, You ask, "Is bowing and confessing Jesus Christ as Lord the same as worship? I would say, "Yes". Philippians 2:10, "that at the name of Jesus/ every knee should bow,...11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is (Lord) to the glory of God the Father." Hebrews 1:6, "And when He/ again brings the first-born into the world, He says, 'And let all the angels of God worship (Him).'" ********* You speak of Jesus being a man but I would have you consider that He came in the likeness of men and was in every way like His brethren, but He was a Man. Just in the captialization we worship Him John 9:35, "Jesus heard that they had put him out; and finding him, He said, "Do you believe in the **Son of *Man?"" John 9:38, "and he said, "**Lord, I believe." And he worshiped *Him." ******* Christ was born as the King [sic] of the Jews and worthy of worship. His name was Immanuel, which means "God with us." Matthew 1:24, "And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord/ commanded him, and took her as his wife, 25 and kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name (Jesus)." Hebrews 1:6, "And when He/ again brings the first-born into the world, He says, "And let all the angels of God worship (Him)." Philippians 2:6, "who, although He/ existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied (Himself), taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by being obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross." Phil 2:10, "that at the name of Jesus/ every knee should bow...confess that Jesus Christ is (Lord)..." ********* I think that John 9 proves that the Son of Man who was believed in and worshiped was the One [sic] who was speaking to the blind man. This Man was not a sinner and He came from God. He was God with us. John 9:37, Jesus said to him, "You have both seen (Him), and He is the **One who is talking with you." John 9:25, NKJ, "He [the blind man] answered and said, "Whether **He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see."" That's the way I see it. The /, *, and ( ) are mine for comparisons. Thanks for the Scriptures. From the heart, Ray |
