1 | Who is the intercessor? | John 2:4 | Mommapbs | 69394
If Jesus' time to act had not yet come, why did He? How did Mary's request move Him? How can we apply this to our petitions as well? I hope I don't open a can of worms, but who is the real intercessor here? It seems to me that Jesus, intercedes on behalf of His mother's request, asking the Father's permission to act. What troubles me is the notion some folks have that Mary moves the Hand of Jesus, and that she continues to intercede on their behalf. Yet, Hebrews 7:25 declares that JESUS is the only intercessor. 2 | Who is the intercessor? | John 2:4 | Emmaus | 69420
Mommapbs, "The prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16) We are all intercessors in a subsidiary sense because we are in Christ. Mary did not merely interceed at Cana but it is significant that the last recorded words spoken by her in the Gospels are also at Cana where she tells the servants (and us) "Do whatever He tells you." (John 2:5). In Catholic teaching about Mary which seems to disturb and frighten so many non Catholics, it is important to note that Mary always refers to and points to Jesus. Always! Emmaus |

3 | Who is the intercessor? | John 2:4 | Mommapbs | 69481
Greetings Emmaus! I so appreciate your words. What troubles me is the (in my mind) unwarranted devotion to Mary that some of my Catholic friends have expressed APART from Jesus! Saw a sign once that read something like this: When you think about Christ, if crucified doesn't come to mind, there is something seriously wrong." So I liken this to the attraction of Mary; With some, Christ is an afterthought when He demands to be absolutely FIRST! Thanks for responding! Blessings to you and yours! mommapbs |
