1 | Is there intelligent life on earth? | John 17:17 | DocTrinsograce | 142953
Thank you for the suggestion, brother Ed, and the account of the previous experience. Frankly, it is hard to know where to draw the line. Sometimes it seems the salt and light aspect calls for our direct involvement, other times the "come out from among them" aspect insists that we remain unsullied and aloof. The only thing I know for certain about all this is that we ought to pray. In Him, Doc |

2 | Is there intelligent life on earth? | John 17:17 | EdB | 142958
Doc I think on issues like this where an agreement was made and broken, Church leadership should take action. Zondervan since they were the license holder in the US for NIV was approached and asked not to publish the new "Policially Corrected" NIV which was created to appeal to gender neutral advocates. A committee made up of leadership from the major denominations and leading edge Christian oragnizations met in Colorado Springs and received assurances and promises that Zondervan would not publish it. Decisions were then made by many of the organizations to renew existing licenses to use the existing NIV text is things like Sunday School material and such, all of which Zondervan being a license holder, would received royalities from. However little more than three years later Zondervan turned it's back on the agreement and produced the TNIV. The first action that should be taken and was taken by some participants was the boycott of all Zondervan material. Secondly some Sunday School material that uses NIV referrences was reprinted removing NIV references. I pray as the material is updated each organization will continue to eliminate any use of the NIV. However I think the one thing that was and is missing is a public statement by the leadership calling for a boycott of Zondervan by the general public. Once again church leadership is a little wishy washy on taking a meaningful stand. EdB |

Thank you, Ed... the story continues to get more clear for me. I'm gratified that Lifeway seems to be falling on the right side of the issue. :-) I wish it happened more often! Shows how much attention I pay to Convention stuff, huh? In Him, Doc |

Brother Ed, Thank you for drawing my attention to this article. Man oh man! :-( What a mess. Sounds liky Babylon all over again. Zondervan doesn't dignify acknowledgement. But I think I'll continue my avoidance of Lifeway stuff too. In Him, Doc |
