1 | Knowing God | John 15:16 | NightJay0044 | 160151
Before I ask, just want people to know this is my own thinking that made me look at it in a different way and felt good. I thought about that God has a plan for each and every one of our lives. He planned each of our days and we were in his care before we were born. In the book "purpose drive life by:Rick Warren" he talks about how we need to accept our selves, and we are not an accident and it's not about us. My new way of thought came in as: well God may have a plan for each and every one of our lives, but he also took into account for human error. So I think this means, that if we choose to go the route of God with our own free will our life wont be anything but love and blessing from our Lord Jesus and God. But if we choose to go our own way for whatever reason God already took account into that and that's where will end up. So my encouragement is that if we choose to go Gods way will will end up in his favor and will be blessed and will make it to heaven. Can anyone agree with me on that or have some understanding? Thanks. |

2 | Knowing God | John 15:16 | Hank | 160152
NightJay: Goodness knows that much of modern "theology" has become more of a "me-ology" in which we are told that we, like in Herrick's poem "Invictus", are masters of our fate. But this isn't what our Lord taught. In John 15:16 He said, "You did not choose Me, but I chose you." And in John 6:44, Jesus said, "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him." So lest we get carried away with the man-centered idea of the power of man's "free will," let us these words of our Lord in mind. ...... With no disrespect for Rick Warren intended, I'd much prefer a "Christ-driven life" to a "Purpose-driven life" any day. --Hank

NightJay, I have read "The Purpose Driven Life" and have used it in adult and youth Bible studies. It is a clear description of the gifts that we have been given by God, understanding those gifts, and utilizing them to glorify God. Excellant Book1 Aliennow |
