1 | can a christian lose their salvation? | John 10:28 | biblicalman | 228532
This is a question which has been asked many times before and can be researched. However, I will deal with it briefly. Salvation is a privilege and a gift from God (Romans 3.24; Ephesians 2.8-9). It is not thus ours to gain or lose. Our dependence is not on ourselves but on our Saviour. 'My sheep hear My voice and I know them and the follow Me, and I give to them eternal life, and they will never perish and none will pluck them from My hand.' (John 10.27-28). But it must be noted that inherent in being saved is that we follow Him. We cannot receive the LORD Jesus Christ as our Saviour without receiving Him as our LORD. See also 1 Corinthians 1.8-9; Philippians 2.6; 2 Timothy 1.12; Titus 3.4-7; Jude 24. |

2 | can a christian lose their salvation? | John 10:28 | lionheart | 228538
biblicalman, Thank you for this simple yet powerful statement. So many folks preach an easy convenient Gospel. It's niether. A good friend of mine who was leading the church I've attended for over twenty years even stated pretty much what you did. Jesus can't be Savior without being Lord. Some of the most powerful words I've heard in my 17 plus years as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Thanks again, lionheart |

3 | can a christian lose their salvation? | John 10:28 | Beja | 228541
Lionheart, I agree, though we must keep the order clear. We do not follow him as Lord in order to receive him as savior. But our following him as lord is part of the salvation which we are given through faith. God frees us from the guilt of sin and progressively frees us from the grip of sin through granting repentence. Act 5:31 "He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins." The reason there is no salvation without repentence is because that repentence is part of the salvation! Ofcourse, I say none of this as a criticism. Nothing said in the thread has said otherwise, I just mean to make the point abundantly clear for readers so as to avoid any chance that they missunderstand and think that our obedience reaps salvation, a very fatal error indeed.
