1 | Where did Jesus do away with the Sabbath | Luke 6:5 | azurelaw | 232674
Dear elder, I am a bit puzzled by your post to Brad. The book of Romans does not have chapter 17 nor 18, and Romans chapter 13 is not talking about Sabbath. So, what is your follow up question on the subject? By the way, your primary question (post 232622) said "...I want scpirtual proof; book, chapter and verse not a opinion". Now, you said you just want to hear other people's POINT OF VIEW (caps are my emphasis); so, do you think that you are contradicting yourself? Shalom Azure |

3 | Where did Jesus do away with the Sabbath | Luke 6:5 | EdB | 232699
I think it would be wrong to say Jesus did away with the Sabbath. However Jesus did fulfill it. Jesus told us the Sabbath was made for man, to give man rest. Mark 2:27-28 (NASB) 27 Jesus said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. 28 "So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." Jesus also declared Himself the Lord of the Sabbath. The Sabbath was given to point us to the Shiloh the rest giver. Jesus is the Shiloh and to fully understand this we must understand Hebrews 4:1-11 (NASB) 1 Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard. 3 For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, "AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH, THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST," although His works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day: "AND GOD RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY FROM ALL HIS WORKS"; 5 and again in this passage, "THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST." 6 Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly had good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience, 7 He again fixes a certain day, "Today," saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS." 8 For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that. 9 So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. 10 For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. 11 Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience. In verse 11 we are admonished to enter the rest, not the Sabbath but rather the rest of Jesus Christ the Rest Giver. Notice in verse 7 it says He fixes a certain day and then goes on to say “TODAY” We must enter in to Jesus Today to fully realize the Sabbath rest of Shiloh. Incidentally the term Shiloh comes from Genesis 49:10 which is another prophecy Jesus fulfilled. |

4 | Where did Jesus do away with the Sabbath | Luke 6:5 | elder4yhwh | 232704
Brad this is what I'm talking about! (being thourgh) Yes Hebrews 4 is refering to three types of Sabbaths. Now my follow-up question is in the 10 Commandments it says "remember", he also blessed, sactifed and made it holy (why would He put all of the adjetives on that particuar day and not the others?) Exd 31:12-18 it's a perpetual coventant. Jesus said if you love my you will keep my commandments. He kept his Father's commandments and therefore he was a Sabbath keeper himself. John 15:10

6 | Where did Jesus do away with the Sabbath | Luke 6:5 | elder4yhwh | 232708
Beja, None the least (except anyone whom the truth as been revealed) When you know to do good and don't to that man it's sin (James 4:17) In the Ten people keep 9 out of the 10, I've always wondered why any one would pick out the Sabbath as oppose to the others The Pharisees chanllenged him on all of the commandemnts (10) and he defended each one of them which leads me to believe all of them were important. Paul himself pointed out that the commandments were holy, just and good. (Rom 7:12) Paul reasoned on the Sabbath as it was his manner (Act 17:2) In Acts he did it every Sabbath day (Acts 18:4) to persuade both Greeks and Jews and Pual himself was a follower os Christ. |
