1 | Luke 23:34 When added to original MSS? | Luke 23:34 | renee007 | 9620
At Biblegateway NIV and in my own New Revised Standard Version, it indicates that Luke 23:34 was not in any original manuscripts. How can I find out more about when it was added? It's vital as it seems to be the only place that states forgiveness is not contingent upon repentance. To me it doesn't fit with the rest of the Word of God. Any comments?

Dprout is right. I thought of Stephen as well. The Sermon on the Mount (Mat 6:14-15) and other passages show me that forgiveness is unconditional. I must initiate the action of forgiveness, it is up to them to repent and accept my forgivessness. There is a debate if God has forgiven the whole world; it is up to us to accept His forgiveness. Others say that He has only foriven those who accept His call for salvation. Steve |
