Greetings, since Jesus refers to this activity taking place in His kingdom, this is a reference to the future. The 12 tribes of Israel describes the entire NATION of Israel. God has much in store for His chosen people in these last days! I also believe that the concept of "judging" here is leadership. If you recall, after the Israelites entered the Promised Land, they were led by judges. These holy men and women received their authority from God. So it will be in Christ's Kingdom - where HE will be King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Hope this helps! Blessings, Mommapbs |

Peter asked, what will there be for us and Jesus replied: "Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel." Mat 19:27-28 "Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years." Rev 20:4 In Matthew, Jesus is referring to the set of thones that will be present in His millienial Kingdom on earth as described in Rev 20. I believe that these are different from the 24 thrones described in Rev.4. From Jesus' reply to Peter, it appears that His disciples will be seated on the twelve thrones in His 1000 year reign. Who will sit on the twelfth throne in Judas' place? I suspect it will be the apostle Paul! Of course this raises the question about the 24 thrones - who will sit on them? That's God's business isn't it? Why be concerned about these things over which we have no control? Let's just look forward to seeing this incredible worship celebration! Blessings, Mommapbs |
