1 | Speaking of God or for God?? | Luke 13:2 | calmrage | 157852
Speaking for God or of God?? We all know that God is all knowing and he is the creator of all. And yet, when it comes to disaster or tregedy, people tend to say things for God in a way that it is not act of God.. For example, Tsunami and Katrina ... I heard that many pastors will say during the sermon "...... why would God let it (nature) happen........" It almost sounded like it is not act of God or should I say it is not God's will to have disaster or they avoid saying that God is punishing people. When I thought of Job 1:12 ... "And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. " Even so, I stil think it's God's will or act of God to let Satan to control Job. Whether it is a punishment or Whatever he does (acccident, tregedy, disaster), he always has a purpose. I just don't get why people are afraid to say that it's act of God or God's will. In the deep thinking, the end of the world is coming soon. We will sooner or later have to face reality that Jesus will come back and the world will be destroyed regardless. Of course, this time, it may not be by water. Anyway, I found that many Christians are really afraid to admit it's act of God. In the old testament, God sent forth lot of diaster to people as well and it was a fact. Yes, God loved us, that's why he sent his son Jesus to save us. However, saving a soul is far more important than a body. Maybe they just say that to comfort the victims of disaster because as humans, we are always looking at our secular situation first. How many of us would be rejoice in pain like Paul did in jail. Not many..... I would like your take on this one... |

Luke 13: 2 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." |

3 | Speaking of God or for God?? | Luke 13:2 | calmrage | 158901
I think that answer is off subject. I am not asking whethere which races are wrose sinners... I merely asked if Christains sometimes intentionally or unconsciously speak for God or of God in a way that they don't want to say it is "act of God". As we all know, God knows everything and he is in control of everything.
