Macedonia, Twice in marks Gospel. All the Gospels have the cock crowing at least once. The Gospels are often complimentary in deatils. Some have more detail about certain things than the others. Some have enitre incidents not recorded in the others. They are like four witness telling what they saw, emphasising different things according to their own perspective and what they highlight. The Gosepels that only record the cock crowing once, do not say that the cock did not crow a second time, so they do not contradict Mark, they just have less detail and Mark compliments them with more detail. Since Mark is generally considered to have been Peter's secretary, we can assume that Peter remembered more details, having been there and being the guilty party. Matt 26:74 Then he began to curse and swear, "I do not know the man!" And immediately a rooster crowed. Mark 14:72 Immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had made the remark to him, "Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." And he began to weep. Luke 22:60 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are talking about." Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed. John 18:27 Peter then denied it again, and immediately a rooster crowed. |
