May I suggest you read Oral Roberts exDaughter in laws book "Ashes to Gold" by Patty Roberts. I am sure her words will have a greater impact than anything I could say. If her book does not sent you into tears, then nothing will. To more directly answer your question, Hinn and Oral ate branches off the same tree of health and welfare gospel. Which is a false understanding of the teachings of TRUE Christianity. In other words both Hinn and Oral are false teachers. Did you ever hear how Oral said if the people did not send him so much money by a certian date God was going to take him home? God extended the time several times. I am not sure he ever got all he needed. Some how God spared him? This was pure lies from the pit of hell!!!!! Think about it. justme |

justme: Every time I hear Benny Hinn's name mentioned, I think of an hilarious short story by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings (who gave us "The Yearling" and "Cross Creek") called "Benny and the Bird-Dogs." If you've read it, you'll know why! ...... One of Oral Roberts' other whoppers had to do with his "City of Faith" hospital complex in Tulsa. While it was under construction, Oral, with his usual flair, launched a media campaign to raise funds to finance the project. He told of the incident of Christ's bodily appearance in Tulsa at the construction site of the "City of Faith" complex. Christ, according to Oral, hovered over one of the unfinished buildings, a 60-story structure, the tallest of the lot, and assured Oral that the funds would come rolling in, so there was no need to worry. Oral said that the body of Christ at this memorable appearance was 600 feet tall. ....... There is another story tied to Oral's grandiose dream for "The City of Faith" complex which turned it into a fiasco. The city of Tulsa advised Oral that there was no need in that sector of Oklahoma for another large hospital and that the economy of the region would not support another medical facility of such gigantic proportions. Oral paid no attention to the leaders of Tulsa and plunged headlong into his magnificient obsession. But the predictions of the city fathers of Tulsa proved to be right. Some years ago I visited the site of Oral's Folly. There stood the tall buildings of Oral's "City of Faith" medical complex. But they housed no patients, no doctors, no nurses, no one. They were empty and abandoned. The only purpose they served was as a breaker for the wind that comes sweeping down the Oklahoma plain. --Hank | ||||||

Hank: You bring to my memory a very sad thing that happened to a member of my congreation of the first church I pastored. A retired couple who lived in the small town, a farming comunity, of Turney, Missouri were faithful "seed planters" of Orals. Their idea of helping build this hospital that Oral said was there to help supporters, was that if there ever came a time they need help it would be there for them. This couple gave more than 18 thousand dollars! I became aware of their support for Oral, because this couple called me for help. They told me how she had a kidney that had stopped functioning and needed to be removed ASP. They had contaced the "City of Faith Hospital" and were told if they had insurance they could come. Their faith was nearly destroyed! They were hurt beyond what you could imagine. Together we got her on welfare and she had her kidney removed under special help to older people with low incomes. They had sent Oral their money they had saved up for retirement! To here you say the "the City of Faith" is a wasteland is no suprise to me. I can assure you that God will watch over His own, and provide for them. I also can be sure that those who say "God said thus" and it just ain't so, will be judged. They do reap what they sow. I and many others who have seen people like Oral, and A. A. Allen and the like can testify they do fall and it is not a pleasant. One cam recall Jimmy Swaggart's huge minisrty, and remember his fall. My prayer is that each of us that have anyone watching our live would be an example to attract others to Christ. Blessings to you Hank..Uall! justme |
