Matt 27:46 WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME? The sufferings of Christ, stage nine. These words mark the climax of the suffering of Christ for lost world. His cry in Aramaic, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me,” testifies that He experiences separation from God as the sinner’s substitute. Here the sorrow, grief, and pain are at their worst. He is wounded for our transgressions(Isa. 53:5) and gives Himself a “ransom for many” (Matt. 20: 28: 1 Tim, 2:6).
