"Why does the NASB reverse the order of verses 29-30 and change the reading of verse 31 from what all other translations have?" Does it? I just compared Matthew 21:29-31 in the NASB with the same verses in three other translations -- Amplified, KJV, HCSB -- and found they are the same. Compared to the other three translations nothing in these three verses -- neither the order nor the wording (which is essentially the same in all three) -- has been changed. Additionally, no forum member is an employee of or spokesperson for the NASB. It would be better to ask the publisher (the Lockman Foundation) to answer any "why" questions related to the NASB. Grace to you, kalos |

The Amplified is also printed by Lockman. All other versions I have checked, and commentaries, have the order of the sons reversed. I tried to contact Lockman, but could find no address, no e-mail address, no information on how to contact them on their web site. Nor can I find an address in my NASB. I have used the NASB for nearly 30 years, and did not notice the difference until two weeks ago, as I taught those verses in church all of the congregation asked why I had reversed the verses. So I am just seeking an answer for that question. |
