1 | can wife divorce a born eunuch? | Matt 19:12 | Searcher56 | 55928
Scripture ... Matt 19:1-12; 1 Cor 7 ... Perculiar Person, Why the question? Is sex the sole basis for getting married ... or an important one? Eunuchs who have been made so by men may be capable of marriage. Once married, there is no way out except if he is an unbeliever and he leaves and he files for a divorce. Since it would be hard for him to commit adultery, she wouldn't be able to divorce him, because of her hard heart. Hope this helps, Searcher |

2 | can wife divorce a born eunuch? | Matt 19:12 | Perculiar Person | 56052
Sex is one of the three importatnt reasons for marriage. The other two are procreation and companionship. Eunuchs clearly are incapable of having sex and ofcourse procreating. These are serious reasons enough for Jesus to regard them as people incapable of marriage in matt 19:12
3 | can wife divorce a born eunuch? | Matt 19:12 | Searcher56 | 56072
Matthew 19:12 says they are incapable of marriage. But, the context doesn't give any party a way out, since he violated Scripture. It would be a sin to divorce ... and the false pretense reason is not found in Scripture. That is because he is an eunuch. Searcher

7 | would God join 2 people | Matt 19:12 | Searcher56 | 56117
Yes ... even based on the this situation. Ask Ken Tada, who has been married since 1982 to Joni. There are lesser known couples who are happily married who have phyiscal and other limitations. Stop trying to figure a way out ... learn to accept what God has done. Searcher
8 | would God join 2 people | Matt 19:12 | Emmaus | 56121
Searcher, In the case of Joni and Ken Tada the fact that they could not have children was know before the marriage and the contract was made with full knowledge and consent of both parties. In such a case the inability to have children is not a grounds for annullment. Emmaus |

10 | Emmaus, Is an annullment Biblical? | Matt 19:12 | EdB | 56153
Searcher Let me interrupt here. No annulment isn't in the Bible, but a principal of annulment is. When Joseph decided to put away Mary quietly Matt 1:19 this was a form of annulment. It was Jewish custom that if a man married a woman and she wasn't a virgin he could leave her, or annul the marriage. I believe in Jewish law if the either were married by deceitful means they could and would be free of the marriage. I see no condemnation of this practice. I think any one that was deceived into marrying another can and probably should get an annulment, provided it is within a short time of the marriage. I also think before doing so they should evaluate what it is they feel they were deceived about. If one marries another thinking that person is rich and finds they are not and now wants an annulment, then maybe they need to figure out why exactly they wanted to get married. However I can sympathize with a women who gets married to a man then finds out he was born a eunuch, obviously he knew it before the wedding, he married under untruthful terms and I see the marriage covenant as invalid. If they both find out he or she can not have a baby and this was done after the wedding then it covered by the marriage vows for better or worst. EdB |
