Hank:-) Greetings U all. Just as a added note one of the Methodust who hold a very high position, denies Jesus was devine, but only a child of Mary and Joseph. Jimmy Draper of theSBC wrote a book a couple decades ago called THE AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE. This is one of the best books I have ever read on the must of elevating Scripture to the High position of Gods WORD in written form. If ever you have the chance to read it do so. The only way to read into the Bible that any sin is is acceptable is to twist and stick in added words to make their rewrite of scripture fit the exception of sin. The best example I have seen recently of this is the TNIV and the NRSV. Both versions have agendas that are made to fit the world today. Blessings Brother Hank! justme |

justme, thanks and amen! to your comments on TNIV and NRSV. Virtually all modern English translations, whether they are formal word-for-word or paraphrased, use the Critical Text of the NT, about which text I have certain misgivings. Most of the time, therefore, I use the NKJV. But I still like the Authorized Version and use it quite frequently too. It's hard for me to cast aside the King James. I can give no earthly reason for forsaking the KJV, but I can give a number of reasons for continuing to cherish it, but I will present only one at this time. I carried the King James New Testament to Sunday School when I was a small boy. That was sixty years ago. I remember how happy I was to own my very own copy. I still have it, by the way. Like me, it has aged on the outside. But its words within remain as fresh and vibrant and true as they were the day I read them for the very first time. We have aged together, that little King James New Testament and I. As I have come to know it more, I have come to love its Author even more still. So please don't make me an offer to buy it! As the old farmer said of the farm he cherished so dearly, "Brother, they ain't enough gold bricks in Fort Knox to buy it! :-) Blessings to you, justme. --Hank | ||||||

Hank;-) Lets see if my California addition is still up to todays standards, with the KJV New Testament 36 years plus your 15 years (Lord forgive me for I KNOW what I do) that makes you about 51 right? I too, was brought up on the Old KJV and have the first Bible given to me when I graduated from junor grade to forth grade in Sunday School. Oh my that's 49 years ago! Eeks, I had never really added that up before! I did most of my memory work from the KJV. I personally use the NASB updated, when cpmpaired to the NKJV they read almost sid by side with a few minor differences. Besides I have to give a good advertizement for Lockman once and a while. Oh, I noticed the NASB is not in the Life Application Study Bible. I have it in the NIV and the notes are very good, and with the NASB it should be better. Thanks for the note and Blessings Hank. justme |
