If you look at the previous verse (5), "Behold, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land. . . it causes me to think that this is referring to the not only the birth or first coming of Christ,(I will raise up for David a righteous Branch) but His Second coming! This is when He indeed will come as THE King, to reign, act wisely, and do justice and righteousness in the land. Only then, will Judah be saved and Israel dwell in safety. Certainly history shows that this is not yet the case! "For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery--so that you will not be wise in your own estimation--that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, "THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB." Romans 11:25,26. |
