Why do Genesis 19:2-8 and Judges 19:20-25 seem like two versions of the same story? I read the Judges passage during my quiet time last night and remembered the story from Genesis. This is wierd and I know that atheists use these passages (as I have found out tonight) to discredit the word of God as just a bunch of folk tales. Any light that can be shed on this is greatly appreciated. | ||||||

Hi, CBD... The similarity in the stories simply reflects the rites of hospitality. Among Semitic people at that time, anyone taken into the home was rendered protection, no matter the expense.
