1 | Pride is a good thing! Or is it? | Prov 23:7 | Hank | 153416
"The Search for Significance" by Robert McGee is neither legitimate science nor orthodox theology. It is rather a disorganized and confusing conglomeration of psychological theories laced with theological blunders that border on heresy. The author's attempts to meld the psychology of Haverlock Ellis, an avowed atheist, with the theology of Paul the apostle are at once both futile and inane. McGee may view self-esteem as being the crying need of man, but this is NOT the message of Scripture. I've read enough from this book to be solidly convinced that it offers more to confound and confuse than to edify. It's just another in a string of ho-hum books that have the potential to lead Christians away from the pure gospel of Christ. I do not recommend the book on any terms. --Hank

Hank, we will agree to disagree here - I can understand your disapproval. However, for me it was indeed helpful to where I am in my own personal walk with the Lord. I do not hold it akin to Holy Writ, nor do I accept everything that is written, but God by His Spirit has ministered to me through what I learned here. The cying need of man is the Savior, who gives us ALL that we need for life and godliness - an understanding of who we really are IN CHRIST is part of that. mommapbs
