1 | Promises from God | Ex 20:12 | EdB | 237612 | ||
This might not be the most spiritual answer but I think it is what God wants you to hear. Before I say anything else let me assure you God does love you. The problem is we don't know the whole story. God's promise of living long in this land has no defining point and no exact end. Say a person's life is 40 years and they honor their parents so God extended it to 60 years. Many would consider dying at 60 a short life. Yet compared to others that died at 20 it was a long life. Then our own decisions enter into this, we make the decision on what to eat what we take into our bodies. We decide on how much exercise and how fit we keep our bodies. Take a drug user that never exercises and eats only Big Macs. They died young but the fact they lived as long as they did might be contributed to fact they honored their parents. Had God said everyone will live to they are 60 and for people that honor their parents they will live until they are 80. Then we would have a defined start and ending. But thsat was not the case. On the issue of healing again we must be very careful because again we don't know the whole story. We don't know how many diseases we had that were healed without us ever knowing we had them. I am Pentecostal but let me say there is many liberties taken with verses that mention healing by some in the Pentecostal tradition. Most verses in scripture that mention healing are really talking of spiritual healing rather than a physical healing. I know God has miraculously healed diseases in my body and that other times it seems like God isn’t even listening to my request for healing. Why? I have no idea. But I do trust God enough not to try to second guess Him. God has promised to make all things work to my good because I love Him and I’m called to His purpose Rom 8:28. I stand on that scripture and trust in God to honor it. So I don’t try to figure out everything else. Now I realize this response might not be much comfort if you are walking through some of these issues but I know what will comfort you. If you put your full trust in God let God be Lord in your life instead of your desires and then rest in the knowledge that God can not lie and that God has promised never to leave you nor forsake you. If you can do this you will find the comfort you are seeking. I pray this helps you see we don't know the whole story and we don't know how active God really is in our lives. We just see ourselves not getting our way when in fact God's ways are not man's ways and God's ways are always better. Remember God does love you and wants only the very best for you. But it is God's very best not what we think is the very best. |
