"Internal" evidence pertaining to the Bible or books of the Bible is best defined as the evidence that one can obtain by reading what is actually in the Biblical text (what the Bible says about itself). "External" evidence pertaining to the Bible or books of the Bible is best defined as the evidence that is gathered from the tradition, languages used or history of the book(s) and how they are translated along with special consideration of extra-biblical information that explain in detail more about the origin or whereabouts of the books of the Bible.
