1 | What exactly does John 10:10 mean? | Ps 116:15 | Priss | 200872
WHat exactly does the John 10:10 mean pertaining to the death of a child. My son was killed 8 years ago and I am still struggling with his death. I know he is with the Lord, but two people have said that the enemy killed him. I have a problem with my child being considered a 'gift' from God and then He takes him from me...you don't give a gift and then take it away. Just this a.m. as I am reading...it is as if the Lord said to me, " I didn't TAKE him...and now I am wondering. I would not receive it as from the enemy because it seems this would mean he was with the enemy and I know without a doubt he is with the Lord.

Greetings Priss! I am very sorry to hear about the death of your son. My wife and I lost a son many years ago to illness. He would have been 21 this month. So, I know what it is to grieve over a child. I am not sure that anyone can say for certain who is responsible for someone's death. However, we do know from Scripture that God is sovereign and that nothing can happen apart from His will. He does not take death lightly. Psalm 116:15 says, "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." The Bible Knowledge Commentary says this about this verse: "The psalmist, knowing that the Lord cares intensely about the death of His saints, acknowledged that he was a servant (vv. 15-16) of the Lord and would praise Him publicly (vv. 17-19). The death of a saint is not something the Lord considers as cheap; He does not let His people die for no reason." We may never know in this life why God allowed our children to die, but I do know that we can trust Him to do what is right. His will is always good, pleasing, and perfect (Rom. 12:2). You are in our prayers! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Thank you so much for you reply. It has made me think again about my question. My son was run over by a tractor trailer the day before THanksgiving, Nov. 24, 1999. That day God whispered to my heart Seth was safe at home. I have hung on to Psalm 139:16 in that our days are numbered before we are put together in our mother's womb since the very beginning. I am doing a study with Beth Moore and just this morning we were looking at broken hearts. She commented that there are things in her life that are still too painful to talk about. I took this to say that even at 8 years it is ok for me to have pain and cry. I know that God is continueing to do a healing in my heart. I believe he allows us to take the time we need in order to heal fully. I could go on forever but do not want to tire you of my story. Thank you in Christ, Priss |
