Greetings LiL12shy17bug2, I just read the entire book of Nahum in one sitting! :-) 1. Nahum was prophesying during a time while the northern Israelite Kingdom was exiled away from their homeland. Nearly one hundred years after Jonah, Nineveh turned back to their violent ways, and Nebuchadnezzar would bring the Ninevites (Assyria) down in judgment and submission, just as God had prophesied. 2. Nahum speaks of God's majesty and anger, and concludes with a long description of God's judgment, which is the content of the 2nd and 3rd chapters of the book. 3. I don't know that Nahum writes with a particular style, but he does include a lot of descriptive language in his prophecies! He seems very forthcoming and doesn't hold anything back in his descriptions. Blessings to you, Makarios |
