Dear Rachel, That's an interesting question, too, ma'am. But I don't think a suitable answer is possible. The Bible simply doesn't explain many details about how we are made. Furthermore, I don't think that men have made much headway in that sort of question either. However, given that the Scripture tells us that the Lord God Himself will sing over His elect (Zechariah 3:17) -- which is mind blowing in and of itself -- I suspect that music has some deep significance. Johan Sebastian Bach taught his students that they should play their instruments "so that a sweet-sounding harmony may result to the glory of God and for an allowable delight of the heart. And as in the case of all music, so also the purpose and final goal... should be nothing else but only the glory of God and the restoration of the heart. Where this is not observed, there you have no real music, only devilish bleating and harping." What Bach is saying, i think, is an important Christian principle: Everything we do should be rooted in sound doctrine. The joy of being made in His image means we can study the Word and find creative ways to manifest the truth in our lives. Regardless, don't try to deduce truth from experience. If this thing was demonic -- and that's always questionable -- then there is nothing of value to deduce from its behavior. Look instead solely and wholly to the Word of God. Even things preached and taught derive their authority rooted in the Word. That experiential stuff will get you nowhere fast. In Him, Doc |

Thank's for the great response. It was very interesting to read about the information you have discovered about Bach. I agree with you about not finding truth from experience, for I know that it was indeed an evil spirit (we told it to leave, so its gone now) and that NO truth can be found within it. Thank you for directing me back to the word of God for the answers. |
