1 | Tribes of Manassah and Ephraim the same? | 1 Chronicles | Crystalight | 153196
Of the twelve tribes of Israel, is the tribe of Ephraim the other half of the half tribe of Manassah? In Chronicles 7:14, the tribe of Manassah picks up at Manassah's descendent Asriel. In Chronicles 5:24, one of the heads of the family of Manassah is named Azriel. Are they the same person? If so, then wouldn't that make the two tribes both descending from the line of Joseph (there is not a tribe named after Joseph)? Thank you for all of your help. |

Hello Crystalight, Joseph was given a double portion of the land of Israel which was split between his sons, Ephraim and Manassah. The tribe of Manassah was so large that half of them settled on the western shore of the Jordan and half on the eastern shore. Steve |

4 | Asriel and Azriel Same person? | 1 Chronicles | srbaegon | 153223
Hello Crystalight, You will find different names in the Bible for various reasons: 1) slight differences because of copying errors, 2) name changed during life, 3) nickname given. In this case it appears to be a copying error. They are the same person. Steve |
