2 | What risks did they take ? | Exodus | Makarios | 19064 | ||
In Exodus 5:14-19, When it came time to reckon the amount of bricks that were made, the Hebrews naturally came up short. To answer this question, the foreman gathered up enough courage, knowing that they could be beaten yet again, and went straight to Pharaoh to reason that they could not reach the goal because of the lack of the necessary means, not because of any lack of work ethic. However, Pharoah did not see it in this way, and he accused them of lazyness (v. 17), and the foreman saw that they were in trouble (v. 19). The foreman showed a lack of trust in Moses and Aaron because of the fact that Moses and Aaron did not immediately provide a remedy for the situation at hand. So God will allow things to get even more difficult for them (and Pharoah) so that God's presence, will, and power will be shown through the deliverance of Israel. - Nolan |
