I tend to think of symbols as objects or pictures representing something else, rather than people representing other people. So I prefer the word "type" or foreshadowing. Melchizedek certainly has certain a similarity or likeness to Christ, in that he was a priest outside the order orf Aaron, he offered a sacrifice of bread and wine, Abraham tithed to him, his was the King of Salem (Peace), his name means King of Righteousness, he was greater than Abraham because the one who blesses is greater than the one who receives the blessing. "He is like the Son of God. He remains a preist forever." See Hebrews 7 | ||||||
