2 | Abram's deception | Gen 12:17 | Makarios | 50110 | ||
Greetings Armour Bearer! Abram certainly did not deserve such mercy! Yes, Abram, who was later called "Abraham", received his punishment, since the Egyptians placed a great emphasis on honesty, and Abram was exposed as a liar. But the Lord Himself intervened and protected Sarai from being defiled by the Egyptians by striking them with plagues. Abram was humiliated by Pharaoh's character and questioning, and he sent Abram out of his country. After Abram left Egypt, then the plagues no longer inflicted Pharaoh, and everything was as it was before Abram came, except Abram's pride. Abram was taught a valuable lesson by the Lord. But another interesting aspect of this question is that Isaac, Abraham's son, did the exact same thing in Genesis 26:6-10. Blessings to you, Makarios |
