From biblical account of creation of the earth and the subsequent creations that follows culminating in creating man on the 6th day, it is evident that the angels existed before this time. Lets take into consideration the fact that Lucifer was one of the angels before he fell. His dwelling place was in the presence of God and had occupied a high post over other angels. He rebelled against God in the first ever spiritual coup detat in the third heavens, he was cast down with his fellow plotters (fallen angels) : Rev. 12.7-9. The account of the Devil (Lucifer) been cast down on earth should not be confusing to mean that the earth was existing before Lucifer and other angels were created. First of all, lets take note that the Boook of revelation is the revelation of the past, present and future - Read Revelation 1:19, it goes thus "Write the things which thou hast seen (past), the things which are (present), and the things which shall be hereafter (future). Hence, Revelation Chapter 12, verses 7 - 9 contextually gives details of the things that had happened. The statement in Gen. 1.1 "In the beginning God created the earth and the heaven" does not suggest the totality of God,s creation, or does not include the creation of spiritual beings (angels). God's creation within the seven days in Genesis covers only the earth and galaxies to home his subsequent creations of plant, birds, man etc. In the beginning God created the earth and the "heaven" and not "Heavens". Biblically, we have three heavens, the third heaven being the dwelling place of God. Therefore, God's creation within the seven days does not cover the third heaven where the spirit beings (angels) were in constant worship and service to God before the earth was formed. If angels were created after the aerth was formed, at what point were they created? Could it be on the sixth day too? If yes, would they have been Adam's age mate, though spirits?. Could they have grown faster in knowledge because they are spirits, and thereafter, one of them Lucifer decided to visit Adam and Eve and caused them to go astray? Logical and spiritual reasoning should put answers to these questions as "NO". One vital point to note, also, is the fact that, it would have been impossible for the angels to have been created after Gen. Chap. 1 verse 1, fellowshiped with God, rebelled against Him, war in heaven, be cast away from heaven, came down to the earth and deceived Adam and Eve within such a short space of time, judging from the Biblical account of creation and the subsequent fall of Adam in Genesis. Certainly, one-third of the angels fell out of God's grace before Genesis Chapter 1 verse 1. Angels existed before the earth was formed. |
