1 | Grace: Received or Accepted - Man's role | Not Specified | sreid | 94279 | ||
Grace: Received or accepted. There are multiple bible verses which speak of 'accepting' grace; esp in John's gospel; but this question involves the larger issue. In the context of a Missouri Synod Lutheran doctrinal discussion, I'm having difficulty with grace; being recieved vs accepted. I have a feeling that perhaps some greek or latin issues may be relevant, but I don't know either. There is a strong feeling when I speak with clergy that we humans don't "choose"...I understand that we cannot of our own obtain grace, but my own thoughts are of 'offer and acceptance'; we must be able to have a part of the equation, or else we could not have the ability to 'fall away' as well? (I know that there is much 'free will' discussion here, but I have searched these questions and answers, and have not found what I was looking for. Thanks, s |
