1 | How do I find a fellowship? | Eph 4:11 | kenpost948 | 45875
HELP ME HERE! I quite agree with you in principal. But there are nearly 300 different denominations and sects most of which say they believe the Bible, yet they disagree with each other. For example I might say I could not fellowship with a Catholic Church because I disagree with too many important doctrines. You may pick a different church but could find some that you feel the same way about. Where one draws that line is a real point of concern for me. As we have attempted to fellowship with local churches, we find that our personal fellowship with God through scripture has made us unpalatable to these churches and them to be very uninteresting to us. The more we read and study our Bibles the less Biblical the churches seem and the farther to the right we tend to draw that line. Is there a chance that we are seeing II Timothy Chap 3 and 4 being fulfilled? |

2 | Bible verses about pastors | Eph 4:11 | kenpost948 | 45842
Thank you for asking this question. May i begin by suggesting that you may have your cart ahead of the horse. You have already determined your purpose and are just now looking for Biblical authority? Sorry there is no Biblical authority for the office of Pastor. The only two offices established in the Bible are deacon and elder (I Timothy and Titus). They should be appointed according to their Biblical qualifications, Pastors are usually hired by resume. If you study Eph 4:11 (the only place in the Bible where pastor occurs)you will find it is translated from the "poimen" which is "shepherd" and is part of a list of gifted men given to build and equip the body of Christ. Perhaps Churches have slipped just a bit from the original organization but is all a part of the human condition. I am concerned though when I hear of a mysterious and unvarifiable "call" into the ministry that most Pastors claim. I would like to see them just meet the qualifications as written in Scripture. 3 | Why translate to pastor and not shepherd | Eph 4:11 | kenpost948 | 45837
Thank you for asking this!I think you are right about shepherd being a better translation as it is translated in all other occurances. It is describing a gifted believer (Eph 4:11), the same as a teacher or evangelist but it has become an office and a vocation, shame-shame. The only two offices that are Bibilical are deacon and elder. Of course an elder should have the gift of shepherding. But don't make too much noise about this or you may find yourself in disfavor, I speak from experience! Ken |

4 | What does it mean to be an "evangelist". | Eph 4:11 | kenpost948 | 45834
Basically, the bearer of good news but as used in Eph and 2Tim it would seem to apply to the work of building up the body of Christ. Philip was also a Deacon and Timothy was Paul's assistant in organizing the new churches. These are the only two named Evangelist, study their activities and gifts and you will have the best picture of what an Evangelist is.
