1 | How do I navigate to a Post? | Galatians | Stan50 | 198919
When you say "see Post #45416" how do I do that? In the "Qquestions/Notes on Verse" search field I put that number in and it gives me an error.
2 | What if you visualize your wife? | Galatians | Stan50 | 198918
There are some great answers to this question posted here. I wanted to say that I am going to also pray for you and your wife's situation. I wanted to add a comment on masturbation or self-sex. God has created us sexual beings and He tells us in His Word what proper relationships look like (1 Corinthians 13 and many other places). It doesn't matter what the object of our thoughts are in self-sex as the description says it all. Masturbation is ultimately self centered. Yes, God created us sexual beings but when we find ourselves in situations where sex is not possible (like your separation) God will give us the grace to endure. Instead of masturbating pray for your wife. Pray Scripture for your wife. Think about when you and your wife were together sexually what was your focus? Was it, "What can I receive in the act?" or "What will she do for me?" The intimacy (relational intimacy, not just sex) God wants us to have in marriage is other-centric, not self-centric. In all you do with your wife and all you think about your wife, how does it measure up to this passage? “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8a) Elsewhere in Corinthians God tells us that our bodies are not our own but our spouse's. We need to forget about ourselves and focus on giving our all to our spouse. If we love our wives without thought for self they will not be considering other ways to find fulfillment. God bless you and may He draw each of you unto Himself and together in His love. Stan |
