1 | Fellowship with God or man? | Acts 2:42 | MrsDean | 196216
Thank you so much for the kind words. Perhaps you are so right. In fact, it may be God's will right now that we are not involved in a church. .just for this time. God may even be protecting my husband from further pain, since in this day and age, many churches are not what they should be. I don't mean to judge them, please understand. I think what I am going through may even be culture shock. I miss the down to earth, old-fashioned southern gospel churches back home (WV). Could be a little homesickness mixed in with all of this?? Again, bless you for your kindness. In Christ, MrsDean |

2 | Fellowship with God or man? | Acts 2:42 | MrsDean | 196212
John, I am sorry that you are alone most of the time, but very glad that you have found God and so are really never alone. It's really not the aloneness that bothers me, as I too feel the Lord with me. I was just always taught that if I did not go to church I was sinning. That fellowship is required. But, now when I try to fellowship, I find that I'm not really very welcome. Right now, we cannot go looking for a church since my husband's illness makes it so that he cannot be around people due to his extremely low white cell count. Forgive me, I think I"m just feeling sorry for myself anyway! Bless you for your kind words though.
3 | Fellowship with God or man? | Acts 2:42 | MrsDean | 196211
Yes, Steve. I fully understand that LDS is a cult. But, my question is, is this fellowship with God in this verse, or with man? And, if we are to fellowship with other Christians, what can a person do about fellowship if no one wants to fellowship with them? I just meant that it's sad that I'm not seeing much fellowship in the church today, yet a lot from a cult. I understand that going amoung the church and helping them to see the way is important, its just very difficult now with my husband so ill, and I don't want him hurt any more by the church. You see, it's only been recently that he has been willing to even attend a church. Long story, but his step father who was a preacher, was a very violent man and it's very hard for my husband to trust now. I don't want to make it worse, that's all.
4 | Circumcision for believers, justified!? | Acts 16:3 | MrsDean | 196198
Thanks so much. I got kind of confused with all of this when reading Acts where Paul circumcised Timothy. Thanks to your post and another one, I now understand that it is not required, but that Paul did this because Timothy was 1/2 jew and that the Jews of that day would have been extremely offended if an un-circumcised man come into the synagogue. Paul wanted to teach the Jews about the good news, and did not want them to expel Timothy from the assembly. I think I've got it now! Thank you all so much!
5 | Why not the Sabbath? | Acts | MrsDean | 196193
Oh my! You are "from my neck of the woods" in more ways than one! I claim the south as my neck of the woods now because I lived in WV for 10 years and, of course, learned to say Ya'll there! :-) So, I picked up on the "ya'll" in your note. But, I'm also a northern born gal, and know well about the brrrrrr of winter. I was born and raised in PA. Enjoyed the smile. I'm trhilled to find such a discussion and look forward to learning. Thanks!

Cheri, "Ya'll"?? :-) That made me smile! You sound like you might come from my neck of the woods! Guess I'm a little stressed, and taking things the wrong way. So sorry about that. I"m sure there are many, many wonderful people out there.

I understand that it is very difficult to interpret text's emotion. I'll try to keep that in mind as I read the posts on here. I was new to the forum and did not realize that I could do a search and see all the other posts on the subject. I had search by putting in the verse at the top instead a the search, so I did not see all the posts. I'm afraid that the reply I got pretty much telling me that this had already been discussed. . so I should have done a search and not posted came across rather kurt (is that the right word??) I'm sure you did not mean it that way. . so I guess this is a learning experience. We must all remember that the person writing the post may not mean it the way it comes across. . and they need to realize that the person reading the post may read it very differently that it was meant. We should all be very careful. So, thank you so much for your reply and clearing this up. And the warm and fuzzies. . . well, I'll just have to get them from the Lord. :-)

Thank you! I'm finding this a wonderful tool. At the very least it's neat to find that there are others out there with many of the same questions, and thoughts, that I have had. I'm also glad to see that there is some love out there. . . thank you!
9 | Fellowship with God or man? | Acts 2:42 | MrsDean | 196184
Is "fellowhip" in this verse indicating fellowship with the Lord, or with other believers? If with other believers, what does one do when other believers do not seem to want to fellowship with you? My husband and I felt led back to the Lord after many years away from the church. We repented and now are in fellowship with the Lord. We then thought that we should be in fellowship with other believers, so we started looking for a church. We found one where the people seemed to welcome us, but after two weeks we realized that there was a war going on in the church, and their welcome was actually one group trying to gain more people than the other group. We have attended services at 4 other churches in our area, and felt about as welcome as a rattlesnake in a schoolyard. My husband has cancer, and life is very difficult for us right now. It's even worse when fellow believers do not show Christ's love. If we cannot fellowship because we are not wanted, is this counted against us by God? If this is the case, then although I was raised a Baptist, I may have to fellowship with the LDS, as they have actually come to my house, offered their love and help, and would welcome us to their fellowship in a heartbeat.
10 | Why not the Sabbath? | Acts | MrsDean | 196086
Thanks. I did not see the search button before. I've always been curious about the Sabbath, but realize that it's not all that important as far as salvation. I must comment that I am new to this forum, and for a Christian environment, I'm not finding any "warm and fuzzies." Where is the love???
11 | Why circumcise Timothy in Acts 16? | Acts 16:3 | MrsDean | 196085
Thanks! This makes sense to me. It just seemed at first like a contradiction of Paul's earlier insistence that circumcision was not required. I can see now that sometime in order to witness to others, we must first respect their culture.
12 | How does God lead genuine Christians? | Acts 15:6 | MrsDean | 196077
Although you may be correct, Steve, that this verse does not address how God leads the congregation, I think that Stokey's question was a valid question. I'd love to hear an answer that addresses Stokey's question.
13 | Why not the Sabbath? | Acts | MrsDean | 196074
This is very interesting. Where did you find this information? If this is so, then I wonder why the Christians did not just continue to meet on the Sabbath, but somewhere other than the synagogue?
14 | Circumcision for believers, justified!? | Acts 16:3 | MrsDean | 196073
I'm still trying to understand this also.
15 | Why circumcise Timothy in Acts 16? | Acts 16:3 | MrsDean | 196072
Why did Paul circumsize Timothy? Acts 15 dealt with the issue of Gentiles not being required to follow this Jewish tradition, and then, in the very next chapter, Paul circumcizes Timothy who was half Jew and half Greek. I don't understand this.
