1 | Is it a sin to be cremated after you die | Psalm | Lupuschick | 189115 | ||
In 1 Samuel 31:11-13, Saul and his three sons have been killed in battle. When the Philistines find the bodies they cut off his head and hung the bodies on the wall of Beth Shan. It states that the people of Jabesh Gilead hear of what the Philistines had done to Saul, and journeyed to Beth Shan. They took down the bodies of Saul and his sons from the wall of Beth Shan and went to Jabesh, where they burned them. Now, they did not call this cremation, but that is in essence what they did. You may aruge that Saul was out of fellowship with God, and wasn't righteous, but Saul's son Jonathan was one of the sons whose body was burned, and according to 1 Samuel 18:1 Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he (David) loved him as himself. So in O.T. times they burned bodies. |
