161 | husband feels last. baby and teenager??? | Eph 5:31 | terrib | 151823
Greetings Southernbell, Welcome to this forum! Husband and wife are bound to each other by command and an oath, before God. Your husband comes first, not your children. (Ephesians 5:31 KJV) For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. (1 Corinthians 11:3 KJV) But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. (1 Corinthians 11:9 KJV) Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. To the children it is written: (Ephesians 6:1 KJV) Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. (Ephesians 6:2 KJV) Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) (Ephesians 6:3 KJV) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. It is our duty to rear children correctly: (Ephesians 6:4 KJV) And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We do not inherit from our children, they inherit from us. (Genesis 25:5 KJV) And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac. terrib |

163 | Standing firm in one Spirit/spirit? | Phil 2:1 | terrib | 113519
Logos - the Word Be not dismayed brother Ray, for there are many that see what is going on and you are not alone. For many will come in His name and proclaim their own intelligence. But we have a promise:(parenthesis are mine) (Isa 45:23 KJV) I have sworn by myself, the word (Jesus) is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. (Isa 55:11 KJV) So shall my word (Jesus) be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Therefore keep with what is in your heart and knowledge of Him that has reconciled us to the Father. Many there are that use this space to kindle a flame but our purpose is to enlighten, exhort and bring harmony to those who have lost the vision that is at the end of all things. A carnal heart will dispute whatever is before it. It has been foretold that a disfellowship with Christ will come, so in Spirit grieve, but also in the same Spirit, rejoice. (Rev 2:11 KJV) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. (Rev 19:13 KJV) And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. terrib |

164 | Are tithes to the church only acceptable | Phil 2:12 | terrib | 116711
Dear Hood Rat, Absolutely! Whatever God has given you, you can return to Him by service. Paul states that the Gifts of the Spirit are diverse and we should use these gifts that the Spirit has given to God's glory. (Jam 2:18 KJV) ...I will shew thee my faith by my works. Paul praises the works of his fellow workers. Whatever you give to God as your tithe or offering is between you and Him. For it is written, "work out your own salvation" (Phi 2:12 KJV). (Mat 6:4 KJV) That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. Consider 2 Corinthians chapter 9 Blessings to you, terrib |

166 | Is it wrong to have a passionate kiss? | 1 Thess 4:5 | terrib | 112148
Dear Tator Bug, I say the following in love: Because you have brought this subject up, I see that you already know the answer and are looking for some justification. You say, “it’s something we can’t help.” Yes, you can! You say, “WE can’t help.” By your passionate kiss are you instigating the passion? And is your boyfriend thereby responding to your passion? Be aware in some men it does not take much to start an arousal. And the flesh loves to conform to its natural instincts. And God has warned us about this: Jam 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Jam 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. The lust, or natural forces, of the flesh is not a plaything. If both of you want to be reverent in the Face of God, STOP! This situation has been compared to a rollercoaster. Once the cars get over the FIRST hill the ride is not over until it reaches its destiny, the end, as the epistle by James states. For your future protection, I would make a pack, promise, with your boyfriend, that since you have this feeling and are in doubt, to refrain from this until you get married. It is better to be single than burn if he does not go along with you. For not all men can contain as Paul explains: (1Co 7:9 KJV) But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. You know the answer. Don’t make your boyfriend stumble. terrib |

Greetings Conn88h, Well when the neighbors see one of them coming out of the house how are they going to witness to them about Jesus forgiving their sins when they just blew their image. The people have to see the car of there. Surely the people around the house knows that the girl or guy is alone in the house. They will think they are hypocrites and that will only hurt the cause of the church some more. And being "strong christians", they should know this already. In this society people have been trained by movies, Hollywood and TV to see these things and the implication is that they slept together, just by the association of the thing, no matter how righteous the couple are. (1 Thessalonians 5:22 KJV) Abstain from all appearance of evil. terrib |

168 | The Lord Jesus revealed? | 2 Thess 1:7 | terrib | 110612
Ray, 2Th 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In this verse I see Paul exhorting the church to stand and wait for the end of their tribulation when they all will be reunited at Jesus's coming. 2Th 2:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 2Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. In these verses I see Paul exhorting the church that - in time - the anti-christ will be revealed when - that time - is right but, be aware that the work of the devil is already at hand and is working within the church. Again the church finds corruption brewing within herself: 1. The Pharasees at the Temple in Jerusalem; 2. Judas within the twelve; 3. The papacy at Rome As with our fight for our salvation it seems that our worst enemy always comes from within. The flesh within us and the infiltration of deceit and gile in the church. (Mat 26:41 MKJV) Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Peace terrib |

169 | I think you misunderstood my question. | 2 Thess 2:3 | terrib | 147531
Greetings My_Merritt123, 2 Thes 2:1-12 First, we must look at the entire context of this. The context of thought is from verse 1 through verse 12 and the main thought is "regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ" in verse 1. Commentary quote: "There is scarcely any passage of the New Testament which has given occasion to greater diversity of opinion than this. Though the reference seems to be plain, and there is scarcely any prophecy of the Bible apparently more obvious and easy in its general interpretation;..." "Most Protestant commentators have referred it to the great apostasy under the papacy, and, by the “man of sin,” they suppose there is allusion to the Roman Pontiff, the Pope. It is evident that we are in better circumstances to understand the passage than those were who immediately succeeded the apostles. Eighteen hundred years have passed (written circa 1880’s) away since the Epistle was written, and the “day of the Lord” has not yet come, and we have an opportunity of inquiring, whether in all that long tract of time any one man can be found, or any series of men have arisen, to whom the description here given is applicable. If so, it is in accordance with all the proper rules of interpreting prophecy, to make such an application. If it is fairly applicable to the papacy, and cannot be applied in its great features to anything else, it is proper to regard it as having such an original reference. Happily, the expressions which are used by the apostle are, in themselves, not difficult of interpretation, and all that the expositor has to do is, to ascertain whether in any one great apostasy all the things here mentioned have occurred. If so, it is fair to apply the prophecy to such an event; if not so, we must wait still for its fulfillment." (Albert Barnes' Notes on the Bible) The rebellion, (actually 'apostasia' is the word here or apostasy) from Adam was an individual rebellion whereas the rebellion in Thessalonians is a great organized falling away from the truth through the "man of sin" who is connected with that rebellion. Who is this "man of sin", (2Th 2:4) "He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god and object of worship. As a result, he seats himself in the sanctuary of God and declares himself to be God." ("in the sanctuary of God" is within the church, the "man of sin" will come from within the church of God). Since Paul is talking about, "that day cannot come unless the rebellion takes place first", "that day", the Day of the Lord", so the "man of sin" does not have to do with anyone in Paul's immediate time but a future event. And "man" here does not mean one person, it is a general term such as, "man has built great cities", not meaning one man built the cities. There has been "man" that has said he was God on Earth and that he is here in the place of God and Christ, the Popes, to whom the most blasphemous titles have been given, such as Dominus Deus noster papa, meaning, 'Our Lord God the pope'; Deus alter in terrâ, meaning, 'Another God on earth'; Idem est dominium Dei et papae, meaning, 'The dominion of God and the pope is the same'; and today we hear about "The Holy Father", the Pope. The overwhelming majority of scholars relate this rebellious apostasy with the false doctrines and traditions with the Roman Catholic Church. All this must be taken with an open mind and with understanding of history and looking at events of the day. None of these Scriptures or comments are to demean the Catholic people, and I do not judge any, but to open an interest into the examining of mens doctrines compared to those of God's. I know these are hard things to say but I believe I have the Spirit of the Lord on this and no offense is given. Also, consider other passages in Scripture: 2Th 2:11 (ISV) "For this reason, God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie." Mat 23:9 (ISV) "And don't call anyone on earth 'Father,' for you have only one Father, the one in heaven." Rev 17:4-6 "And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus:..." Rev 17:18 "And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth." Rev 18:4 "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." I pray the Holy Spirit guide you, terrib |

What is his response? Does he know that he is your boyfriend? Since you know nothing is going on what then is the problem? These are all rhetorical questions you should answer yourself. terrib |

Greetings Karol and welcome, Although the Scriptures and not explicit in describing of this prophesy, some thoughts are: The exhortation he may have received from some prophets: Acts 15:32 "And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them." (and-or) the presbyters at Ephesus; who may have charged him to remain faithful: For the presbyters where to - "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." Acts 20:28 Also, he had a good report from the brothers: Act 16:2 “Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium. “ Any or all of these may have been the prophecy, but we do know he kept the faith and was martyred: “Timothy was the celebrated disciple of St. Paul, and bishop of Ephesus, where he zealously governed the Church until A.D. 97. At this period, as the pagans were about to celebrate a feast called Catagogion, Timothy, meeting the procession, severely reproved them for their ridiculous idolatry, which so exasperated the people that they fell upon him with their clubs, and beat him in so dreadful a manner that he expired of the bruises two days later. “ - Fox’s Book of Martyrs Hope this may help, terrib |

The word to search for in the Scriptures is harlot. (2Ki 9:30 KJV) And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window. (Isa 3:16 KJV) Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: (Isa 3:17 KJV) Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts. (Isa 3:18 KJV) In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon, (Isa 3:19 KJV) The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers, (Isa 3:20 KJV) The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings, (Isa 3:21 KJV) The rings, and nose jewels, (Isa 3:22 KJV) The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins, (Isa 3:23 KJV) The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails. (Isa 3:24 KJV) And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty. (Jer 4:30 KJV) And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life. (1Ti 2:9 KJV) In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; Hope this helps, terrib |

Dear Reverend, 1Ti 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Joh 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. Joh 21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. Joh 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. Mat 20:26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; Mat 20:27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Mat 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. If you put Christ first the true congregation will follow the leadership of their shepard. terrib |

174 | To whom should we pay tithes? | 1 Tim 5:17 | terrib | 149475
Welcome HeatherM, In the Old Testament the tithes went to the Levites, the keepers of the Tabernacle. (Num 18:26 "Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance..."). Today, it would be your pastor if you offer any. For again Scripture says, 1Ti 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 1Ti 5:18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. Tithing is good and acceptable unto the Lord. But be careful not to get bound by legalism. For Jesus, "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;"(Col 2:14) Hope this helps, terrib |

176 | Can judgement happen before sin? | 1 Tim 5:24 | terrib | 151908
Hi Born Twice, It's about Timothy and his office of steward of the church. Albert Barnes: The apostle had given Timothy a charge 1Ti 5:22 respecting the character of those whom he should ordain. He here says, in reference to that, that the character of some people was manifest. There was no disguise. It was evident to all what it was, and there could be no danger of mistake respecting it. Their conduct was apparent to all. About such people he ought not to hesitate a moment, and, no matter what their talents, or learning, or rank in the community, he ought to have no participation in introducing them to the ministry. Going before to judgment - Their character is well understood. There is no need of waiting for the day of judgment to know what they are. Their deeds so precede their own appearance at the judgment-bar, that the record and the verdict can be made up before they arrive there, and there will be scarcely need even of the formality of a trial. The meaning here is, that there could be no doubt about the character of such people, and Timothy should not be accessory to their being introduced into the office of the ministry. "And some men they follow after" - That is, their character is not fully understood here. They conceal their plans. They practice deception. They appear different from what they really are. But the character of such people will be developed, and they will be judged according to their works. They cannot hope to escape with impunity. Though they have endeavored to hide their evil deeds, yet they will follow after them to the judgment-bar, and will meet them there. The meaning, in this connection, seems to be, that there ought to be circumspection in judging of the qualifications of men for the office of the ministry. verse 25 continues. 178 | What is meant by Know Salvation by Faith | 2 Tim 3:15 | terrib | 149728
Greetings saint_of_God, Welcome! Are you referring to: 2Ti 3:15 And that from a babe thou hast known the sacred writings which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (?) If so: Not all seed that falls to the ground will germinate (parable). Likewise not all of man that reads the Bible will get anything out of it. But the ear that receives the Gospel by faith then receives salvation. So the knowledge of your salvation comes through the faith you have in what you have read and now believe. To put it another way, by faith you received salvation from the knowledge you received from the Scriptures. Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 179 | can we be sure the Bible is valid? | 2 Tim 3:16 | terrib | 148845
Greetings Joe and welcome, It is not that the church has decided to use the Scriptures, rather it is the Scriptures or Word that started the church. As a man these thoughts have come to me also. Then I relax and just think about all the things I see and I listen. Listen, if you can quiet yourself and get to that place inside you, you will hear the Holy Spirit explain to you. Not in the sense of mysticism but meditation. As David says, I will meditate on thy word. (Psa 1:2 KJV) But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (Psa 63:6 KJV) When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. (Psa 77:12 KJV) I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings. (Psa 119:15 KJV) I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. (Psa 119:23 KJV) Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes. (Psa 119:48 KJV) My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes. (Psa 119:78 KJV) Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts. (Psa 119:148 KJV) Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word. (Psa 143:5 KJV) I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands. Words are power, speak out loud to yourself, for what comes from the mouth of a man so is he. Praises are power, for the Lord delights in the praises of His people. Doubt is an old trick. And you know the enemy is lurking about; walking up and down the Earth seeking whom he may devour. You, being a Christian know these things! Logically, if the Scriptures were not true, you wouldn't have these thoughts nor would you care. If the above isn't enough, we can look at history and archeology. All our 33,000 plus laws we have on the books come from the Ten Commandments. Farmers in Kansas, while plowing, have found shark jaws in their fields, evidence of the flood. All the wisdom of man and the scientific community have never proven it wrong. The Scriptures are true, it is the doctrines of men you will have to be aware of. terrib |
