Hello NewWine Pentecost is a Jewish feast found in Leviticus 23:15-16,21 (ESV) "You shall count seven full weeks from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering. [16] You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath. Then you shall present a grain offering of new grain to the Lord...[21] And you shall make proclamation on the same day. 1270 | how to speak in tounge | NT general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 44475
Hello god's girl30 No, you cannot be taught how to receive the Spirit. He is given to all who believe (1 Cor 12:13; Eph 1:13-14). No, you cannot be taught "speaking in tongues" as that's a sovereign work of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:4-11). Steve |

1271 | Who cast lots for the lord? | Luke 23:34 | srbaegon | 44473
Hello angelface Nobody cast lots for the Lord. They did cast lots for the Lord's clothing. John 19:23-24 (ESV) When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his garments and divided them into four parts, one part for each soldier; also his tunic. But the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom, [24] so they said to one another, "Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see whose it shall be." This was to fulfill the Scripture which says, "They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots." Steve |

1273 | what brother wouldnt raise other kids | Gen 38:9 | srbaegon | 44468
Hello angelface It was Onan. Genesis 38:8-10 (ESV) Then Judah said to Onan, "Go in to your brother's wife and perform the duty of a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother." [9] But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his. So whenever he went in to his brother's wife he would waste the semen on the ground, so as not to give offspring to his brother. [10] And what he did was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and he put him to death also. Steve |

1274 | Ezekiel 37:18-20- stick of Joseph?? | Ezek 37:19 | srbaegon | 44460
Hello Pat The passage is a clear promise of God to rejoin the nation of Israel in a latter day. There is a joining together of the northern tribes (referred to as Joseph and Ephraim) to the southern tribes (Judah) The names of Joseph and Ephraim are used because of the blessing received from Jacob in Gen 48. Ephraim and Manasseh were essentially adopted into the Jacob's family as 1st and 2nd born (Gen 48:5) replacing Reuben and Simeon. Because Ephraim was given the blessing of the firstborn (although the younger) he received the elder birthright. Ephraim is thus the leader of the 10 northern tribes. And by inference placed Joseph above his brothers. Ezekiel now uses this to point to the future and the actual coming together of Israel as a nation. Steve |
