302 | God all knowing-Heaven or hell | Acts 2:38 | lionheart | 226380
puppytoes, God is all knowing but that doesn't infer that he chooses one person to go to heaven and another hell. It doesn't work that way. What matters is how an individual will respond to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. God knows how people will respond, but people will hear the gospel just the same. It's how people will respond to our Lord when the truth is shared with them. Acts 2:38, Ro 10:9,10, Jn 3:16. In Him, lionheart |

Dear Katebote, God bless you. I took a quick peak at your user profile and I just want to share this with you. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God.Faith is the starting point for all that we believe.Reading Gods Word and having knowledge of it are good but without faith and the conviction of Gods Holy Spirit all you have is knowledge.Knowledge wont get you into heaven, faith mixed with that knowledge will. You dont have to be a rocket scientist to know God and His Wod.God only knows that I'm not even close to being in that catagory. It does take faith and a heart to be workman of Gods Word though. 2 timothy2:15. Check out 2Timothy 3;16,17. Being smart doesnt make us right, having a rerlationship with Jesus Christ and being right with God does. In Christ, lionheart |

307 | Accessory to evil | Acts 4:28 | lionheart | 142819
Brother there is a reasonable answer. First what you may want to do is start in Genesis 3:15 this is the first Messianic prophecy and follow the thread through the Old Testament. Then check these verses Jb 31:4,21, Ps 147:5,He 4:13, and 1 Jn 3:20. They speak of the omniscience of God. (God is all knowing)I dont Know that God chose Herod or Pilate,But I do know this, that God had a plan for our salvation and that he knew how that plan would come into being. Any time we come across scripture that seems confusing or unclear it will be brought to light or clarified by other scripture in the bible. Check these things out and this will make alot more sense to you. In Christ, lionheart |

Tduplechain, I'm encouraged to see you posting again. I have no doubt about your love or dedication to God. I really want to encourage you to do 2 Timothy 2:15 everyday. When we bring things into the the light of Gods Word everything gets exposed,it all becomes so much clearer. we just gotta have humble hearts and and allow God to conform our lives and believing around his Word. I love you brother, lionheart |

309 | Why is it so hard to find Jesus? | Acts 17:27 | lionheart | 203156
LJ777, Good morning. We make it hard to find God. God is closer than your next breath. Look at Acts 17:26,27 and Jeremiah 29:11-13. This is how close God is. The question arises, are you willing to seek God with all your heart. The bible says that if you do He will be found. In Him, lionheart |

310 | revpete79, when were these men saved? | Acts 19:2 | lionheart | 172292
Brother, Here's something to chew on a little bit.All they understood or knew at that time was Johns baptizm. Acts 19:3. Acts 19:5 They were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 2:38) A little study within the context gives us some pretty solid answers. In Christ, lionheart |

311 | who was Jesus talking about | Acts 19:15 | lionheart | 210871
jchelve, Glad to have you here with us. Matthew 7:22 get's batted around allot in today's church. We hear term like backsliding or people who have quote unquote lost thier salvation. Back in the time this was wrote Matthew 7:22 was not understood in those terms and shouldn't be today either. When Jesus made this statement it wasn't He didn't KNOW them it was he never knew them, meaning he never had a relationship with them. There are allot counterfeits and false teachers out there. Some of them are even amongst us today. Peter and John spend allot of time on this subject, so does Paul. Acts 19:15 is one of a number examples provided for us in scripture. In Him, lionheart |

312 | Preaching the gospel house to house? | Acts 20:20 | lionheart | 227055
Julia, What acts 5:42 is referring to is home bible study and not necessarily going door to door. Look at these scriptures- Acts 2:46,8:35, 11:20,and Gal 1:16. With all these passages it's important to take them in the context in which they are written. This will help give you more understanding this subject. Keep digging. In Him, lionheart |

313 | What should I say? | Acts 20:20 | lionheart | 227073
Julia, People will take scripture out of context and twist it to their own ends. Again I will go back to 2 Tim 2:15- Rightly dividing the Word of truth. Going door to door isn't a requirement for salvation. Not now not ever! If that's how one wants to share their faith then so be it, but but don't lay it on those who don't. Love God love people that's when you'll see things happen. In Him, lionheart |

314 | eyeglasses biblically correct? | Romans | lionheart | 167231
betsyann, Welcome to the forum. this will not be directed so much to you as it is to those who make such absurde statements. Read Romans chapter 14 carefully, It delves into what we might call disputable matters. 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, What would Paul say to this person in reference to what this perons comment to you? I would be quite interested in what this person thinks it is to fully trust God? Because if I am to take this persons statement as rock solid, bedrock truth, then none of us are fully trusting God. Read that 2 Corinthians 12 passage I refered to earlier. These bodies that God has so graciously given us are going to experience challenges and trials where our health is concerned, wheather we are in sin or not, wheather we are walking closely with God or are struggling in our relationship with him. The question we need then ask is do we beleive what God told Paul is True today. Do we beleive Gods grace is sufficient for us in every situation.Dear heart, wear those glasses without any sence of trepidation or doubt. God will will his will in your life no matter what and ya know something, whatever that may be it will be the absolute best where He and those who place their faith and trust in him are concerned. The bottom line is that God wants us close to Him dear heart and because we may be sick or frail in some respects does not mean we are not close to God. Philippians 4:13 everyday my sister! In Christ, lionheart applicable to us today |

315 | The Gospel and Postmodernism | Romans | lionheart | 168182
John, Greetings and welcome to the forum. I'm not totally up on some of the philosiphies and arguments that get thrown at us,but the greatest weapon we have today as it was in the days of the prophets and apostles is Gods Word. Look at Hebrews 4:12. It may help to know what the other guy believes, but the most effective counter to any argument given us is Gods Word and thats where we gotta make our stand every time. Romans chapter one gives attention to many of these issues. Romans 1:21-24. This has always been mans problem. We always have it in our minds that we can build a better mouse trap.We all know that theory is fatally flawed. If we are to take a stand it has to be on Gods Word. Scriptures such as 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20,21 have gotta be bedrock for us or we are not going make progress with anyone. After any argument or speculation it all must come right back to God and His Word. I think many times we get ourselves confused and in trouble because we attack things intelectualy instead of dealing with people on a heart level and ultimately the heart of man is the crux of the whole issue. So John dont loose heart, The apostle Paul tells us that Gods Word is not without effect. Isa 55:11 tells us that his Word acomplishes what he sent it to do. It gets results. We just gotta keep preaching it and teaching it. We can plant and water, but it's God that will bring the increase. So dont be discouraged,it may be the ninth inning the bases are loaded and there are two outs but ya gotta know that God is going to put the ball out of the park. When all is said and done God will win the day to His glory and our benifit. In Christ, lionheart |

316 | How would you respond to their claim? | Romans | lionheart | 168201
John, You know how Paul talks about disputable matters in Romans 14. We will always have them. But there is one thing that is not disputable.Where God and His Word are concerned truth is absolute whether anyone believes or not. This is why we need to be able to approach people on a heart level.Because the vast majority of the time in spite of the arguements thrown at us it's not the argument in and of itself,it's an underlining heart issue. When we we learn to look beyond the in your face arguments that we will encounter and get to a persons heart because thats where the real answer is then we can help people deal with what there core issue really is. It's usually the heart that is the reason and not necessarily argument itself. The argument can many times can be a smoke screen for whats going on in ones heart. Keep on holding it forth. In Christ, lionheart |

317 | Salvation not through faith alone? | Romans | lionheart | 171231
Rich, This may help answer your question. Faith is the greek word pistis- Faith, faithfulness, belief, trust, with an implication that actions based on that trust may follow;"the faith"often refers to the Christian system of belief and lifestyle. (Zondervan NIV Exhaustive Concordance) The greek word pistis is an action verb. Faith always involves action. Check out James 2:14-20. We had to have faith or none of us would be diciples of Jesus Christ today. Question:Is it faith if we dont do anything with it? In Christ, lionheart |

318 | what is true church | Romans | lionheart | 174947
lenpaul, Greetings and welcome to the forum. Take some time and look at 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:16,17.There are so many denominations and offshoots out there, many claiming to have a better way than the other. The bottom line is this,The bible tells exactly who is saved, how we are saved and who belongs to God's Church. Check out Ephesians 4:3-6. Give heed to 2 Peter 1:20,21. Find a fellowship that is solid spiritually and most of all get into God's Word everyday (2 Timothy 2:15) and make it part of your everyday life. Pray.(Luke 18:1,1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Make fellowship with standing likeminded believers a priority,Do these things in faith and you will know where your at with God. In Christ, loinheart PS: Hebrews 10:23-25. Spend time doing these things and you will see what God's will for your life is. |

michael03, Greetings and welcome to the forum. Check out Romans chapter fourteen. Paul deals with the subject of disputable matters here and does it quite well I believe. And where disputable matters are concerned we have enough of em. What scriptures does he use to support his position? Does he approach things with a 2 Timothy 2:15 perspective? In or out of context? It can and does make a huge difference when someone is trying to establish a position that is Godly as well as biblical. In Him, lionheart |
