242 | God can't die or look on sin! | Matt 27:46 | lionheart | 225395
CDBJ, Well let me take a stab at this. Two things come to mind for me. First the weight of baring all of mankind's sin and even more crushing was being separated from the Father. Up to this point Jesus had never been separated from the father. The immensity of this is unimaginable. In Him, lionheart |

244 | Lordship | Matt 28:19 | lionheart | 166582
EASYBOYJ, Matt 28:19 pretty much tells us what ther focus was to be,and that was to all nations, during Jesus time the jews expected that the messiah would restore the nation (Isreal) they were looking at things from more of political viewpoint rather than a spiritual one. They were looking for one that would drive thier oppressers(the Romans) out and restore them to thier former position. It even took the apostles time to get this on straight as evidenced by the passage of scripture you refer to. In light of Matthew 28:18-20 is there or should there be an ethnocentric focus? In Christ, lionheart |

247 | Are apostles the same as evangelists? | Matt 28:19 | lionheart | 212726
humility, In accordance with Matt 28:18-20 we are all evangelist, Now look at Luke 6:13- And when day came, He called His disciples to him and chose twelve of them. whom he also named as apostles: Notice what everyone of them had in common is firstly they were with him, they saw him. Now bring Paul into the picture and he refers to himself as one born out of season. Jesus appeared to him ( The road to Damascus.) The criteria for apostleship is pretty clear. One question for you now, In light of these scripture do we have apostles today? In Him, lionheart |

249 | Hebrew Greek Scholar question ? | Mark 5:9 | lionheart | 140522
Well lets give this one a shot. I'm no greek/hebrew scholar by any means. I know enough to stumble through my exhaustive concordance and Greek/English concordance. Lets see now. Important to know that at this time and you more than likely already know this that greek was pretty much at this time a universal language and with fact that the Roman empire encompassed the former Greek empire it would be a fair guess that greek would be the main form of communication throughout the Roman empire. I presume you are refering to the 12,forgive me if I'm not correct on this. Lets assume that at a minimum they understood the greek and spoke enough to get by and because of there upbring and education in the Torah Hebrew or Aramaic would not be a stumbling block to them. So lets take stab at this.In the greek its spelled almost exactly as it's pronounced. Where as in the Hebrew it's pronounced lasan(TO SLANDER) there is lassaron, lesa which transelates to sharon or belonging to sharon. So looking at the two it's a maybe but not likely. But like I said I am by no means an authority I can figure out enough to get me through a simple Word study, but thats about it. I hope this helps and doesn't cause to much confusion. But I learned a few things myself. Thanx for the opportunity to learn some things I didn't know. In Christ; lionheart |

250 | Can God free us of the weight of sin | Mark 9:43 | lionheart | 202370
yosemitepaul, Greetings and welcome to the forum. When you say premarital relationship do you mean the two of you are living together, sleeping together??? There is no easy answer to your question without you making some very critical decisions regarding God and His Word. Look at Mark 9:42-50. What is your heart when it comes to dealing with sin. Is this your heart? 2 Corinthians 7:8-11. Repentance will be key for the both of you. Have you been open about this with your Pastor or any of the brothers. Have you sought out advice and Godly council? Don't be signing a contract for failure. We serve and walk with a God of second chances and He's given me more than my fair share. What are you gonna do? It's up to you. In Him, lionheart |

251 | Is "to salt" to mean "to destroy?" | Mark 9:49 | lionheart | 164771
MJH, You pose an interesting question. Vs 49 refers to being salted with fire,Vs 50 may seem somewhat of a delima, check out Matt 5:13 and folowing verses if I'm looking at this correctly this should shed light on Mk 9:50. Back in Jesus day salt was a valuable comodity. It remained valuable as long as it retained it's saltyness other wise it was thrown out and trampled under foot, it was not an unheard of practice for invading armies or in the case of the retreating army to take this salt which was no longer of any use and put it in the fields rendering them useless for any kind agricultural production. Salt is a seasoning and a preservitive. Jesus tells us salt is good, now going back to Mk 9:49 Could the usage of salt and fire be a reference to fire being the trying or cleansing agent here? I hope I havent butcherd this too badly. In Christ, lionheart |

254 | The power of faith | Mark 11:23 | lionheart | 168848
Jason, Hebrews 11:6- And without faith it is impossible to please Him,for he who comes to God must believe that he is,and that he is a rewarder of those who seek Him. Faith is a dynamic that applies to every aspect of our lives. I believe that God wants us to have goals and dreams. They are part of what drives us as humanbeings.Thats why It becomes vitally important for us ti naintane a godly focus every day. The whole of Hebrews 11 is an excellent model of the exercising of faith. In Christ, lionheart |

255 | Asking, but not receiving. | Mark 11:24 | lionheart | 201501
Godsstudent, Philippians 4:19 And my God wii meet all your needs according to His glorius riches in Christ Jesus.(NIV) Isa 59:1 Surely the arm of the Lord is not to short to save, nore ear to dull to hear. Colossians 3:1-2 1.Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Dear heart I will repeat what I know you have probably heard a thousand times already but I believe it's something we all need to seriously heed. God hears our every prayer and request. He doesn't turn a def ear to his people and believe you me has not done so with you. There are allot of times though God will say no an that dear heart is not a bad thing. I'm quite fortunate for the times God has said no in my life. Because there have definitly been times where yes would have been disaterous for me. Know this though, God will always give and meet your needs. Be grateful for what you do have and keep your focus on the things of God and see what he will do. You wont be disappointed. 256 | Forgiveness and salvation | Mark 11:25 | lionheart | 175917
seedling, I cant even begin to count the number of times I've read this passage of scripture and just as you those last couple of verses jumped out at me. Talk about getting floored, talk about a wakeup call,Boy O Boy! I think allot of us today and I dont always think it's intentional, but we will place the responsibility of forgiveness on God's shoulders and forget that it's encumbent on us to forgive as well. God's forgiveness- Psalm 103;3,130:4,Mt 6:14,Acts 5:31,13:38,Eph 1:7,1 Jn 1:9. God has always taken the initiative in all things. 1 Jn 4:19 We love, because he first loved us. This is God's heart of forgiveness,we are called to the same standard. Mk 11:25,Lk 17:4,Eph 4:32,Col 3:13. Jesus didn't pull any punches here. If we dont forgive we will not be forgiven. I will say this, I dont know about voiding out ones salvation,I do believe that when one allows there heart to get so hard they absolutely refuse to forgive they do put there salvation in jeopordy. But the great thing is we can repent and get our hearts right with God. We may not always want to forgive but when we look back on what God has forgiven us of then we also can foregive others also. We must! Study out the above referenced scriptures I think this will help you to pull this issue together in your own heart and mind. In Christ, lionheart |

257 | Biblical, cultural or both? | Mark 16:18 | lionheart | 152558
malley, God bless you and welcome to the forum.2 Timothy 3:12 tells us that as we look to live godly lives with Jesus Christ being the central focus we will face persecution. When we take a stand on Gods Word there will be opposition. And oft times it comes from those closest to us.These verses get thrown up a lot. When you view them in lite of Matthew 6:33 they make sense. God never tells us to hate anyone,we hate sin not the sinner.Gods Word contains numerous figures of speach and specific symbolisms. His word will never contradict itself. The best thing, the most loving thing you can do for your family and friends is to stand firm in your faith and on Gods Word.God wants us to put him first.Thats not harsh,it's loving. Everything I am today flows out of my walk with God and keeping him first.God is no slacker. Romans 8:28, Philippians 4:19. Be a 2 Timothy 2:15 disciple of Jesus Christ You wont be disappointed. Your brother in Christ, lionheart |

258 | Is the AKJV the true word of God? | Mark 16:18 | lionheart | 152599
Malley, Greetings dear sister.I grew up reading the KJV, there is only one true Word of God,but that is not in reference to any particular version or translation of the Bible. The true Word of God is in reference to how he gave it to us.2 Peter 1:20,21 2 Timothy 3:15-17 The NASV is an outstanding translation I use this and the NIV for a lot of my studies. The Bible was originaly written in aramaic, hebrew, and greek. It is these manuscripts that the Bibles we read today are translated from.Malley you will always have my prayers. You are never alone, You have Christ in you.Colossians 1:27Make fellowship with the brothers and sisters a priority.God never intended for any of us to be lone rangers. Your brother in Christ, lionheart |

259 | let your light shine in dark places | Luke 5:31 | lionheart | 218733
Fallen4shell, You ask a valid question and I tend to somewhat lean your way. But in light of Jn 5:35,36 Jn 15:13 Jesus makes it very plain that as disciples of His we have a vast field of people looking for what we have and we gotta have the heart to lay our lives down for people. Our whole mission is to make disciples. Mtt 28:18-20. As we involve ourselves in the lives of people that God brings to us eventually we will get em to church. We wanna take as many folks with us as we can. In Him, lionheart |

260 | Salvation is a gift to be accepted | Luke 6:46 | lionheart | 141093
I think one thing we all need to keep in mind at this point is that what Jesus Christ did at calvary was a one time thing. He only had to die once,Ro 6:10. Why would we wanna put Jesus back on the cross? When Jesus died on the cross he satisfied Gods rightious requirement for our sin. He took the death penalty for us. Now with all this in mind lets see what we will see. We all blow it on a daily basis to be sure. Do we lose our salvation once we have it, I dont know,But these things I do know,1.When we sin we we break fellowship with God. Ja 5:16 1Jn 1:9 It is encumbant on us to deal with our sin.Thats why we confess our sin to God and each other. This is something we better be doing every day, because my brothers and sisters Iknow I fall short everyday. The key is we dont have to continue in our sin, thats why I gotta get on my knees before God every day. We can turn away from God, we can walk away from him. Heb 6:4-6 If one willfully chooses to stay in their sin they crucify Christ all over again. 1Jn1:8,10 If we say we dont sin it says the truth is not in us and we make God out to be a liar. Some pretty stark contrasts here dont you think. Every last one of us better be sure that what we beleive and teach lines up with what Gods Word says. What ever resides in our heart is what we will teach others. Lets make sure we help people make it to heaven and not hell. Love you guys. lionheart. |
