1 | Please help with Nimrud question | Bible general Archive 2 | khuck | 102484
Greetings Warstom77 I found nothing regarding Sarah in my net research, but there were tombs of three queens excavated. There is information here regarding the well of which you inquired, and an explaination on Biblical reference to Nimrud. (patience please; this a a cut and paste job) The Arabs called it Nimrud after Nimrod, the biblical mighty hunter, father of Ashur (Assur), the Assyrian hero whose name explains why Assyrians are called Assyrians. Ashurnasirpal moved to Nimrud from Assur, preferring its convenient defensive site near the junction of the Tigris and the Greater Zab. Sir Max Mallowan, who excavated here after the Second World War, says of Nimrud in his book Mallowan's Memoirs (Collins, 1977): 'There is no more beautiful mound in all Assyria than Nimrud, a lonely spot still untouched by modern development. Among many other things Mallowan discovered much perfect treasure in two deep wells. And what Mallowan found in his wells has now been added to by further finds by the experts of the Iraqi Directorate-General of Antiquities. Among other discoveries too numerous to detail here were royal filing cabinets, relating to taxation and customs duties. One tablet recorded the inspection of thirty-six thousand two hundred and forty-two bows which, Mallowan says, implies an army of at least twice. that: so Nimrud could have had a population of one hundred thousand. During the spring of 1989, continuing excavations at Nimrud under Iraqi direction discovered a tomb chamber under the "harem" of Ashurnasirpal's palace. The tomb contained the remains of two women covered with the remnants of dark textiles decorated with gold rosettes and beads. The bodies were interred with a wealth of gold jewelry, including a crown, a headband of woven links, amulets, and solid gold bracelets encrusted with precious stones. The names of two Babylonian kings inscribed on some of the objects indicate that they may be of southern Mesopotamian origin. Additional finds from the tomb include cylinder seals, a stone funerary tablet, and inscribed bowls, four made of gold and one made of a rare, transparent rock crystal. Each bowl is inscribed with the name of one of three previously unknown Assyrian queens, Yabâ, Banîti, and Atalia. While the grave goods indicate that they belonged to three queens, the remains of only two individuals have been recovered. The contents of one of the several vessels inside the tomb were analyzed and identified as cremated human remains, possibly of the third queen named in the inscription. The objects found in the tombs remain in Iraq. see: httpwww.metmuseum.org/explore/anesite/html/el_ane_xcavatio.htm http://www.learningsites.com/NWPalace/NWPalhome.html http://www.geocities.com/iraqinfo/ I hope this information was of some help. -khuck |

2 | unborn babies heavenly body age ? | Bible general Archive 2 | khuck | 102853
Hello Savedundergrace: I would love to hear responses to this one myself. I have heard those who believe all bodies will be 33 yrs old. Because they contend that since scripture teaches then we will be like Him, that the new body would be at the age of Jesus when he was crucified. (Though this is not my contention) I have no insight of regarding the age of those who receive the new body, except that it being eternal makes it difficult for me to comprehend time or age, put on an eternal body in an ageless and timeless Kingdom. I apologize if this is more of a thought than an answer. Yet I pondered this question also at times. -khuck |

3 | Are we supposed to observe the Sabbath? | Bible general Archive 2 | khuck | 102981
As Lord of the Sabbath Jesus is the Ruler and King of it... His Kingdom was established on the day of Pentecost. Which fell on the 1st day of the week. These have always been the reasons that I have held as with most Christians for Sunday worship. Matthew 12 5 And haven't you ever read in the law of Moses that the priests on duty in the Temple may work on the Sabbath? 6 I tell you, there is one here who is even greater than the Temple! 7 But you would not have condemned those who aren't guilty if you knew the meaning of this Scripture: 'I want you to be merciful; I don't want your sacrifices.' F67 8 For I, the Son of Man, am master even of the Sabbath." As Lord of the Sabbath Jesus is the Ruler and King of it... His Kingdom was established on the day of Pentecost. Which fell on the 1st day of the week. In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. the end - The Hebrew word Schabbath, from which our English word is derived, signifies rest, and is applied to all solemn festivals, equally with that one day of every week devoted to the worship of God; Eze 20:21, "they polluted my sabbaths. Three evangelists say, the transaction recorded in this verse, occurred upon the first day of the week, early in the morning, about sunrising, and John says, while it was yet dark. Commentary...Try as one might, he will search in vain for New Testament evidence that the primitive church observed the sabbath with apostolic approval. Yes, it certainly was the case that the apostles frequented the synagogues on the sabbath for the purpose of proclaiming the gospel. That is where the greatest concentration of Jews would have been (cf. Acts 13:14; 17:1-2, etc.), and the message regarding Jesus was to be spoken first to them (Rom. 1:16). But where is the evidence that the early church, under divine guidance, came together to worship God on the sabbath day? The kingdom of Christ was established on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1), which always fell on “the morrow after the sabbath” (Lev. 23:15-16), hence, on Sunday. So the church started out meeting for worship on the first day of the week (cf. Acts 2:42). The disciples at Troas “were gathered together” [passive voice] upon “the first day of the week” to break bread, i.e., to worship, (Acts 20:7). The specific day of meeting was no accident. Though Paul was anxious to get to Jerusalem (20:16), he waited seven days for the opportunity to assemble with the church. Moreover, the passive voice (see above) indicates that the assemblage was orchestrated by someone other than the disciples; it was of divine initiative. The saints in Corinth were assembling, and contributing into the church treasury, “every first day of the week” (1 Cor. 16:2 – Greek text; cf. NASB). On the isle of Patmos, John was “in the spirit” on “the Lord’s day” (Rev. 1:10). The term for “Lord’s” is kupiakos, which is defined here as “relating to the Lord.” Thayer comments: “. . . the day devoted to the Lord, sacred to the memory of Christ’s resurrection” (365). The Gospel narratives, of course, make it clear that the resurrection occurred on Sunday. While Revelation 1:10 would not be conclusive by itself, the very fact that the day is specifically mentioned is significant. God's Peace be with us! -khuck |

4 | Do we believe IN God or believe God? | Bible general Archive 2 | khuck | 103094
I'd say yes if by believing you mean believing His Word to be true and by believing IN; to believe there is a God. There are those who believe that there is a God, they believe He exist, but they feel the Word is a fallacy contaminated by men. On the other hand for a deeply grounded Christian, I think they should mean the same. Believing IN what He says, does, and promises would equate to believing Him and that He Is! (We therefore we put our trust IN Him as we trust and believe Him.) God's Peace to you! -khuck |

6 | are we allowed to drink alcohol. | Bible general Archive 2 | khuck | 103675
There is no prohibition in real terms but many warnings: But one should never be a drunkard. Ephesians 5:18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 1 Timothy 5:23 Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses. 1 Timothy 3:8 Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise. Proverbs 31:4 "It is not for kings, O Lemuel- not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer, Titus 2:3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Romans 14:1 Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. 2 One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. 5 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall. 22 So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. 23 But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin. |

7 | Holy Spirit question on mysterious ways | Bible general Archive 2 | khuck | 103877
Hi Cliff, This is the only thing that I found to be comparable to your request. I hope it is of some help. Romans 11:33-36 (Amplified) Speaking of God - Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unfathomable (inscrutable, unsearchable) are His judgments (His decisions)! And how untraceable (mysterious, undiscoverable) are His ways (His methods, His paths)! For who has known the mind of the Lord and who has understood His thoughts, or who has [ever] been His counselor? Or who has first given God anything that he might be paid back or that he could claim a recompense? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. [For all things originate with Him and come from Him; all things live through Him, and all things center in and tend to consummate and to end in Him.] To Him be glory forever! Amen (so be it). -khuck |

Joel to get a better understanding of Nazirite and how it applies to those described in the scriptures: I actually went to the Lexicon to see how the word translates... you may be suprised that God called Joseph who was betrayed by his brothers, Nazirite: go to http://www.searchgodsword.org/ type in the word "nazirite" and be sure to check the box that says "Include Study Resources" it translates "RYZN and RZN" Everytime it is used in scripture it is used in varied context. It is used in 16 different verses in the Bible. Bible Scholars and Christ Believers - LOL check it out... I hope your question is answered with this great resource. God is so worthy to be praised today! I Love you! -Kathy |

10 | Jesus speaks disciple, what do we follow | NT general Archive 1 | khuck | 104575
Are we disciples of Christ, I hope so. Mere confession or profession of discipleship does not make a disciple or insure them a place in the Kingdom. Loving "SERVICE" with truth and humility shows greatness. We need our hearts to be annointed with the Holy Spirit of God in order to kindle Love, that looks for NO reward or recognition, but gives Glory to God. He Loves us so much He gave Jesus, His only Son for us! Jesus a sacrificial Lamb, who died for us because He Loved us, when we were yet sinners. Jesus laid aside His Divinity, His Royal Heritage to take the form of a "SERVANT". Christ had come to wash the stain of sin from the hearts of mankind. We must bring our sinful pollouted hearts into contact with Christ's Heart to rid ourselves of evil temper, vanity, lust, pride... etc, because He alone can wash us clean. His whole life was under a law of "SERVICE" if you will. He served all, ministered to all, and thus He fulfilled God's law and by His example, showed how we are to obey. The only greatness is in humility, the only distinction is found in "SERVICE" to others. We are to help and bless one another. Our lives to be given to unselfish ministry, because the world is full of those who need our ministry; The poor, the helpless, and the ignorant are everywhere and needing to know that Jesus came that they may have Life and that more abundantly! He is the Bread of Life. A light in darkness. He came seeking the lost. - *Gloria Dunn* This is what it means to me to be a disciple today. And I really believe that it is the heart of Christ thoughout the Ages. My mother wrote this to me and left it in written words, so the I would remember who I am and what I am called to do. I am a servant of Christ. - Kathy |

12 | is it wrong? | Gen 1:29 | khuck | 105071
Hi Sickhead: First marijuana is a controlled substance therefore it is by governmental law, illegal. Submission to the Authorities - Romans 13 1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. Second it reminds me of the questioned recently asked is it a sin to drink alcohol: The Believer's Freedom - 1 Corinthians 10 22 Are we trying to arouse the Lord's jealousy? Are we stronger than he? 23 "Everything is permissible"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"--but not everything is constructive. 24 Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. If it is not edifying then it is wrong in my humble opinion. God Bless and Keep you, -Kathy |

13 | Explain the Holy Trinity-verysimple form | Numbers | khuck | 103671
Hi Ms Daisy:) The simplest way that I have ever attempted to explained the Triune God to a new convert is to compare it to myself. I am Kathy the Mother, Daughter and the Niece. I am not my Mother's mother yet I am a mother, I am not my Aunt's daughter but I am a daughter, nor am I my daughter's niece. But I am all of these persons in one being. Each having it's function. That is my most simplistic effort. God bless and keep you in the vineyards, -Kathy |

14 | Loyal to who?? | Numbers | khuck | 104155
Hi jm, Do not discount the fact that Jesus was a man. God the Father is a Spiritual Being, but Jesus was God in the flesh, therefore he experienced what we experienced. He knows our sorrows and feeling of rejection. He knows physical pain, and even emotional pain, remember how He wept. He came to fulfill the Law, and no other man could possibly accomplish that. Most importantly, His behavior was to be an example to the believer. In the flesh He triumphed not on God's behalf, but for your sake and mine. -Kathy |

15 | Loyal to who?? | Numbers | khuck | 104207
Hi jm Yes I did in fact answer your questions, (possibly just not to your satisfaction) Jesus could be tempted because He was a man. God is not a man that He can be tempted. (That was part of my answer along with other expoundings that I included in my second post to you) You said: But what my question is that at James 1:13 it says that "God cannot be tempted with evil" but Jesus was. So how can he be God? I answered: Jesus was in fact God and could be tempted and that was due to the different persons of God the Father and God the Son. James is speaking of the Father. In Hebrews Paul is Speaking of the Son. (Maybe this is too complex for you to understand, but there is a difference because The Father is Spirit, Jesus was a man filled with the Spirit of God, as all Christians are of course, and He was conceived or born by the Spirit, which all true Christians are. This being true, He was in fact exemplifying that we too have the ability to resist satan, and keep our allegiance to God. You said how can He be God if He was able to be tempted? I answered, it is because He put aside that Deity and was born to the virgin to come in the flesh he became a man. Therefore we are no longer speaking of God the Father, now we are examining God the Son. As far as your second question I also answered; You ask: When Jesus was tempted to see if he would worship the devil what was his test to see if he was loyal too? Loyal to himself since he is God? Of course the Son's allegiance once again is to the Father, therefore He showed us when we are tempted that we can overcome by the word, His obedience to God showed that He was a LOYAL friend to those who believe on Him, because He laid down His life for His friends. Therefore all that He endured, including the many temptations, proves the Son's obedience and allegiance to the Father, also His loyalty and love for you an I is why He endured all of it. He counts us as His friends when we accept Him and live these truths in His exemplary life. So those are in fact "my" answers. I do not know what else you seek in these questions, but maybe someone else will be able to expand beyond my 3 post. I have no other answers. If you seek to prove that Jesus was not God, then I cannot co-sign that fallacy for you, because scripture proves otherwise. With much Love to you In Him, -Kathy |

16 | How would you apply Deuteronomy 29:29? | Numbers | khuck | 104215
Glory A New Covenant Deut 29:29 2 Cor 3 7 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious. 12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech-- 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. Noble may I humbly say this is how I apply the first. -kathy |

17 | In Gen 3:9 what is meant ,where are you. | Josh 7:19 | khuck | 104115
God being know all things, of course knew where Adam was and he knew what had transpired. He is calling out to Adam, proclaiming "what have you done!? What has become of you!?" Of course God knew. Of course Adam had fallen into temptation, to the devils scheme. He was requiring of this man to explain his spiritual condition and not his physical location. Sometime we often try to hide our sins from The Father Who already knows all about us. Yet it is often that our guilt will cause us to flee from his presents. If we continue without repentance it only serves to move us further from the One who saves us from our sin. Therefore we would do well to confess our sin, and repent. Immediately see Gen 4:9 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" And he said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?" Cain showed no repentance and of course God already knew what had happened. Joshua 7:19 Then Joshua said to Achan, "My son, I implore you, give glory to the LORD, the God of Israel, and give praise to Him; and tell me now what you have done. Do not hide it from me." God already knows our condition, will we admit it and repent? -Kathy |

18 | Altar calls. Biblical references? | 2 Sam 24:25 | khuck | 103117
Hello Headdoc5 I agree with Markarios here, and I would like to add that though there may be no Biblical history of the early church having such Alter Calls, they are a good thing. One of the core values of the Church that I happened to attend is "CREATIVITY. And though some means of reaching a lost and dying world may not be scriptural, We are willing to use every means afforded to us to share God's Salvation plan for mankind without compromising the Gospel. If this be through dramatizations, skits, passing out tracks, websites such as this or the even a skateboard exhibition, we will do it. The Alter Call may not be a Biblical practice of the NT Church, but it's purpose, which is to win souls to Christ is very much Biblical. For many denominations, in particular some Protestant and Baptist Churches it is a regular invitaion that is offered to those who are seeking answers and deliverance through Jesus. Yet even so these denominations are a part of the Body as a whole. Mark 9: 38- 41 John said to Him, "Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us." But Jesus said, "Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me. For he who is not against us is for us."For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because of your name as followers of Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward. In Matthew 11:12 Jesus says, "From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force." Paul expresses that he will go to the lengths necessary without compromising the gospel, to win souls to Christ in 1 Cor 9:19-22; "For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more. To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law though not being myself under the Law, so that I might win those who are under the Law; to those who are without law, as without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some." God's Blessings be upon you! -khuck |
