301 | believe in god and not have salvation | James 2:19 | inmyheart | 84071
Greetings I forward these verses in response to your question: Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, Rom 1:19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. Rom 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. Rom 1:21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Rom 1:22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, Rom 1:23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. Rom 1:24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. Rom 1:25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. (NASB) God bless |

303 | Elders anointing sick with oil. | James 5:14 | inmyheart | 63724
Exhortations for Christian care for one another 1. (James 5:13-14) How to meet needs arising among Christians. a. The suffering need to pray; the cheerful should sing psalms of praise to God, and the sick should call for the elders of the church, asking them to pray for their need. i. James has the same advice for both the one suffering and the one doing well: take it all to the Lord. In fact, the two commands could be reversed: sufferers should sing also, and the cheerful should also pray. ii. James clearly puts the initiative on the person in need (let 'him' call); the hesitancy of people to ask for or to seek prayer from the leadership of the church in such circumstances is a true mystery. b. James also says that the elders of the church, as they pray, should anoint the sick person with oil in the name of the Lord; this anointing with oil has been interpreted as either seeking the best medical attention possible for the afflicted (oil massages were considered medicinal), or as an emblem of the Holy Spirit's presence and power. i. Anointing the sick with oil is also mentioned in Mark 6:13; Luke 10:24 mentions the application of oil in a medicinal sense. c. The Roman Catholic church mutated the command to anoint the sick into the "sacrament" of Extreme Unction, administered to someone to prepare them for death - something intended to heal was made into a preparation for death! from www.blueletterbible.org |

304 | spirit in prison | 1 Peter | inmyheart | 61649
Lourdes, I went to blueletterbible.com to bring up this commentary on the verse that you seek. God bless (19-20a) Through godly suffering, Jesus has preached to the spirits in prison a. Apparently, this work was done in the period after Jesus' death, but before His first appearance as resurrected to the disciples; Jesus went to Hades - the abode of the dead - and preached to the spirits there b. Are these spirits demonic spirits or human spirits? Their disobedience was in the days of Noah; we have evidence that this was a time of gross sin for both demons and humans, when there was an ungodly co-mingling of humans and demons (Genesis 6:1-2) c. Why would Jesus preach to these imprisoned spirits? In all probability, this was preaching (the proclamation of God's message) but not evangelism (the proclamation of good news); Jesus probably preached judgment to these disobedient spirits i. In this, there is a completeness is Jesus' triumph over evil, even the evil occurring before the flood ii. The Bible says that even those under the earth must acknowledge Jesus' ultimate Lordship; here Jesus was announcing that fact: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth (Philippians 2:10) d. Some feel that this preaching was done by Jesus to the people of Noah's time, in Noah's time; when Peter refers to their imprisonment, he refers to their current state, not their state when Jesus preached to them - preaching through Noah (or Enoch) i. "This passage, once cleared of misunderstanding, should also function today as an encouragement to us to be bold in our witness (as Noah was), to be confident that, though we may be few, God will certainly save us (as he did Noah), and to remind us that just as certainly as the flood eventually came, so final judgment will certainly come to our world as well, and Christ will ultimately triumph over all evil in the universe." (Grudem) e. Other feel that this preaching offered a second chance to those demonic spirits who were imprisoned at the flood (but the Bible knows nothing of such second chances) i. "Before Christ came, they had not heard the Gospel of God's Reign. . . . But at Christ's preaching they repented like the men of Nineveh; for it is said that angels subjected themselves to Him [verse 22]" (Hart) |

305 | 1Pe 3:6 "...and do not give way to fear" | 1 Pet 3:6 | inmyheart | 154444
The last part of 1Pe 3:6 states in the KJV...and not afraid with any amazement. The essential characteristic of Generalized Anxiety Disorder is excessive uncontrollable worry about everyday things. This constant worry affects daily functioning and can cause physical symptoms. V.5 speaks of women in the old testment days of "trusting God"...SOoo...if we are trusting God what are we to worry or fear about? I'm not a qualified Doctor to give you the advice you seek, but I do know you are not alone. Connect with other Christians who have and are struggling with anxiety and build that support group...Romans 12:2 says that we are not to be conformed or pressured into or squeezed into this worlds pattern of thinking, but rather we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Our souls have been elevated to a higher standard of living, but our MINDS are in the process of being renewed to that higher standard of living, day by day. God's Kingdom system of living is powerful to overcome and have breakthrough. And then we may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God is for our lives. Grace plus Truth equals accountability and responsibility and fault and blame leads to shame. God loves you just as you and your wife are, but loves you too much to keep you the same way you are. Thank you for letting me share and I pray for the breakthrough you seek. Peace inmyheart |

306 | Is smoking a sin? | 2 Pet 2:19 | inmyheart | 56176
Lee-Roy, I suggest that you seek others who have been in your shoes, in your fellowship or church that you go to. Thank God that you desperately want to stop, this is the first step in quitting, and believe me God will be with you through each step of the way, until you are delivered from this addiction. My wife and I have been serving the Lord now for two years. My wife has been a smoker for over forty years! She kept pursuing the Lord and she has been delivered from that habit now for nine months, Praise God. God is not a respector of persons, He'll do it for you also, Keep walking in faith. God bless "That your faith may not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God" 1Corinthians2:5(KJV) |

307 | Where do I go from here? | 2 Pet 3:4 | inmyheart | 51719
Treadway I was born a sinner, raise a sinner, I dutifully went to church when someone married or died. I didn't even know people actually owned a bible, but to read it also, wow! However, I am truly grateful that Jesus came the first time :) All the topics you refer to are relevent to our lives, and so is Living for Him. To know that Christ return is at hand, prompts me to reach out to others, while at the same time God is re-arranging my life, to trust every word that He inspired the writers of the old and new testament to write. To understand that what He says is true, not matter what I think. (Romans 3:4) I said all that because I want to encourage you to continue your study of His word, knowing that with God all things are possible. And the Counselor, Holy Spirit, is able to make known the mystery of His will toward us (Ephesians 1:9). God Loves you, may He bless you as you search the scriptures. |

312 | Is God really a restorer of things ? | 1 John 1:9 | inmyheart | 70737
Greetings, "I may lose my wife and family beause of it, I did not intentionally do this, I just used bad judgement. The girl was 17 and I am 55. There are human reasons, but a sin is a sin". Yes, you may lose your wife and family, and yes, you did do this intentionally, and no, you used no judgement whatsoever. And considering your ages, you could be charged legally! However, I'm not here to beat you up, but we have an adversary, the devil, who will destroy you and attack you at your most weakest areas of your life. The Word of God says, Mat 10:39 "He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.(NASB) My friend, God is a God of a second chance, but you need to be willing to surrender ALL areas of your life to Him, so God can restore you. The written Word also states "Rom 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." (NASB) God does not condem you, nor does He condon your actions. God has a purpose and a plan for your life, and He wants to fulfill it, your first duty is to repent to God then your wife. God has called us to live in Peace. Seek council from your pastor or those whom you are accountable to. God loves you, so do I and I'll be in agreement with you in prayer. No matter what the outcome may be, you'll be right with God, and if God be for you, who can be against you! God bless |

313 | sin is the absence of right behavior? | 1 John 3:4 | inmyheart | 60369
inheavenseyes, Good topic! I pray that this answers your question. God bless Rom 13:1 Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Rom 13:2 Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. Rom 13:3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority ? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; Rom 13:4 for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. Rom 13:5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience' sake. |

314 | follow-up | 1 John 3:4 | inmyheart | 60448
inheavenseyes, Greetings, I'm saying by the way you act upon or, behave, towards what you know is wrong, and doing it, is sin. We have two nature's, so we will always fall short. However, what God did for us by sending His Son Jesus, by paying the price for our sins (shedding His blood), we are made righteous, by His Grace. We become responsible for our actions by being obedient to His will. Romans say's it like this; Rom 3:10 as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; Rom 3:11 THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; Rom 3:12 ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE." Rom 3:13 "THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN GRAVE, WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING," "THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS "; Rom 3:14 "WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS "; Rom 3:15 "THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD, Rom 3:16 DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS, Rom 3:17 AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN." Rom 3:18 "THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES." Rom 3:19 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; Rom 3:20 because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin. Rom 3:21 But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, Rom 3:22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Rom 3:24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; Rom 3:25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; Rom 3:26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. May our Father continue to make you a target of His blessings. I leave you with this scripture for your reading; Hebrews 4:14-16. Peace to you. |

315 | does this mean we aren't born of God. | 1 John 3:9 | inmyheart | 56875
Elice, Please read 1John 3:7 and 8, then verse 10. This will keep you in context of your question. John here is simply emphasizing what it means to be born again; it means that a change comes into our lives - it is a change that will be worked out into every area of our lives as we grow in Christ, but it is a real, obeservable change. God bless |

316 | Drawing the line | 1 John 3:17 | inmyheart | 72812
What is the limit? The only limit is the one that love itself imposes; where giving to a person, meeting their perceived or immediate need, does them harm instead of good - then the loving thing to do is to not give them what they ask for, but to give them what they really need instead. You are not being specific in your question. Do you feel that there should be a limit as to "how much" your fellowship should contribute? Or, are you saying someone is taking advantage of their current situation? |

317 | 1 Tim 6:17 | 3 John 1:2 | inmyheart | 66295
Come on now! You get that man of God who is in the will of God and who is prospering financally, with that house on a hill and all that goes with it, and you switch him with that man who is in the will of God, serving God in the third world country, living day by day with his pockets empty and living in a shack, I guarrantee that both of them will still magnify the One true God. We are of royality, we don't seek things of value, we put value in things! We don't need something to be somebody, we are somebody with out something. What does Jeremiah 29:11 say - I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, "plans to PROSPER you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future"... Are we not going to live to fullfill our destiny? Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the House of the Lord forever. God bless. |

318 | Will we grieve for those not in heaven | Revelation | inmyheart | 68244
toots49, Hello, read the following, we will not remember those who will not inherit the Kingdom, if we did, we would continue to weep. Rev 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. Rev 21:2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. Rev 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, Rev 21:4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away." Rev 21:5 And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." And He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true." Pray and reach out to your love ones with the gospel. God bless |

320 | Why did God create man? | Rev 4:11 | inmyheart | 68120
Col.1:16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.(NIV) You are not an accident. Even before the universe was created, God had you in mind, and He planned you for his purposes. These purposes will extend far beyound the few years you will spend on earth. You were made to last forever! You created everything, and it is for your pleasure that they exist and were created. Rev 4:11 (NLT) You must begin with God, your Creatior, and His reasons for creating you. You were made by God and for God, and until you understand that, life will never make sense. God bless The Lord takes pleasure in His people. Psa.149a(TEV) |
